The Results Of The FCC Auction Are In! And Verizon Rolls A Big Fat Goose Egg!

Congratulations Lowell. Add this to your big fat steaming pile of failures over the last 5 years. Another win for T Mobile. Another loss for Verizon employees, customers and shareholders.

As a network employee, we have plenty of spectrum and are repurposing 850(Evdo) for 4G. I think we have plenty of spectrum.

Hate to break the bad news, but Verizon does not have the capital needed to buy spectrum.

Between massive dividend obligations, trying to service over $100 billion in debt, trying to buy Yahoo and racing To Mo to the bottom with unlimited which is eating into magins like a mother f'er. Verizon is in the hole about $6 billion a quarter.

It's just matter of time before the whole thing implodes.

The ivory tower is trying to hide this, but Verizon being publicly traded, has all it's cards on the table for everyone to see.

I'm not sure what the end game is, but it's already too late to save Verizon. It will not be able to recover from this.

So... instead of paying $8B for spectrum, we will pony up $35Bwe don't have to buy Dish.

The significance is the FCC had a national 600 MHz auction and Verizon screwed the pooch and let T Mobile take it all. This is a nail in the coffin of network advantage. Here is a link that explains in layman's terms.

But its okay we go Blow90, BUM and Verihoo! Who needs wireless network advantage when you charge more than anyone else?
