Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No EISP?

So let me get this, Verizon lays off thousands of wireless employees who wanted to be there, yet they won't put out an offer to let the wireline employees out who want to go? Which is a lot if they don't put a targeted EISP out. You can't make this stuff up. Then again that's the Verizon backwards thinking.

I highly doubt someone complained, but know for a fact this site is administrated. Check their rules, racism and naming names not allowed here, personal insults as well. Once you violate their rules, they (admins) nuke all you ever written and block your IP. They deleted all of mine three months ago for mentioning a coworker. I'm on proxy now, don't recommend it for ones who get frustrated easily, super-slow.

so you can be racist or s-xist on this website but if you make a joke about @2anh they censor you?

Interesting because apparently you can say what you want about Union workers and not be censored.

Or could it be that @2anh is a snitch and complains to the website? Surely not a "real man" like him!

Hey Mr. I Was The Best, you're truly smug.

I don't see what's so wrong about timing one's retirement to take advantage of an additional incentive if one may be coming available. It seems prudent. What's so bright about the hasty, ill thought out timing of your own seemingly knee-jerk exit? Also, what's so admirable about the way you played it? You're so blinded by your own false sense of worth that you shot yourself in the foot financially, and sullied your reputation to boot. Nice going genius. Go ahead, be a lone wolf, don't listen to those wiser than you. Go it alone. When has banding together, or listening to the combined wisdom of the group, ever benefitted anyone?

@MNpWXsh-2anh, you label others delusional and then you opine, "You have a skill set and you paid for it? Who taught you that skill set ? That's right management." LOL

Now, I ask you, who's really delusional?

You're also conceited, vain, narcissistic, self-centered, & egotistical:

  • "...Survived 15 years of rifs because I was the best..."

  • "...I had every job in engineering to make myself as valuable as I could..."

  • "...I stood on my own two feet unlike you associates..."

  • "...Not a damn one of you could have done my job working 60 hours a week..."

  • "...I walked out the door two months ago without a rif... Worked for incompetent mgrs my entire career. Called my mgr from my driveway on my last day and told him I filed my pension request on line. Thats all he deserved. That's how a real man walks away..."

  • "To all you cowatds that wish you could get an EISP pkg. This is what is called personal responsibility. Ever hear that term ?"

It sounds like you were one stuck-up PITA to work with.

You also paint with an incredibly wide brush in casting your aspersions upon others.

It's funny. In your mind you feel you've worked oh so hard for the money, while you believe others skated have by making similar money. You demonize them for leaving with extra incentives in their buyout packages.

Now, I ask you, who's the real dummy, dummy?

Ha ha ! You fought for your contract ?! You are all completely delusional. I get it . Without sliming your way into the union you would be driving a local delivery truck.

The overwhelming majority of you got your job because daddy, mommy, brother or uncle worked at Verizon and got you in the door. In my local const garage there were two entire father, uncle. sons and nephews teams. Oh no nepotism there. You have a skill set and you paid for it? Who taught you that skill set ? That's right management . You didn't come equipped with that knowledge. Half of you morons think the CWA / IBEW PAYS YOU ! You just can't be thankful you stumbled into a job that paid you more then you possibly could have made anywhere else given your educational limitations. You give those wireless people the what for because they weren't smart enough to unionize ! You tell em !@!

Here is my story. I worked two jobs and put myself through college and got my engineering degree. Worked for Bell Atlantic/Verizon for thirty years . Survived 15 years of rifs because I was the best. I had every job in engineering to make myself as valuable as I could. I stood on my own two feet unlike you associates. What a joke. Not a damn one of you could have done my job working 60 hours a week for the last four years before I retired on my own . I walked out the door two months ago without a rif. Left this sinking life raft. Worked for incompetent mgrs my entire career. Called my mgr from my driveway on my last day and told him I filed my pension request on line. Thats all he deserved. That's how a real man walks away. To all you cowatds that wish you could get an EISP pkg. This is what is called personal responsibility. Ever hear that term ?

Yes I would say the union has my best interests in mind. Are they perfect, no, but nothing is. With 30 years services I just left with a large pension lump sum and the EISP. All negotiated by my union. Do you think the company would just give me all that, no. Thank you CWA.

I wouldn't call daily cookouts or standing on a corner with a sign at 6am on a Sunday fighting for something, but I will call it was, a huge inconvenience.

I'm not sure what kind of deal was struck in Washington, but we are all just pawns. So if you think the union has your, or my, best interest at heart, think again. We just have to sit and wait for the other shoe to drop.

Union or no union ........ Here's something to think about. No layoff clause! Guaranteed jobs......Good Pay........A pension plan.... A lump sum buy out option.......

We decide when we are done working and want to retire.

Non union. I feel sorry for you guys........Verizon doesn't care!

You union people have no say to where your union dues go to ! Democrats get it ? Understand ? The union leaders (oxymoron) stay in power because they spread the wealth around to the Democrat hacks that throw the contracts and kickbacks back . Companies that tolerate unions deserve what they get. The real disease is the state, federal, municipality unions who have driven many a city to its knees over pensions and health care to people who don't deserve the level of compensation in relation to society who has to pay for this ! You delusional self grandizing under achieving class who found away to steal more money then you could possibly earn from your pathetic education levels and or motivation .

Wireline is understaffed as it is so no layoffs there. As for how they vote, a huge portion of union workers voted Trump including CWA. Also, over the past 6 years the Democrats have seen union contributions shrink up since they've done nothing for unions.

I work my 40 hrs a week, make 85k/yr plus mediocre medical, a pension, a 401k , paid holidays etc.... That is what the "Vz the company" offered when I was hired. I work required overtime for more pay.

I provide a skill set . Vz pays. Its a free market. Vz sets the standard. I choose to accept it or go else where. I'm and American . I vote the way I want.

When wireline had to shrink because of declining growth and revenue, wireless people smugly assumed it was their fault.

Welcome to the world of market saturation. Wireless is bare bones as it is but able to grow in part because they sharpened their pencils and figured out a way to compete.

Wireless eventually will get there too, but it will have to adapt. The days of easy money are over.

Wait. Wait, I'm confused. Weren't you all blaring that wireline is dead? It's your daddy's technology and all that other blithering crap?

Now you're saying they need to hire? Forced overtime? Fios builds? Deconstruction of copper? Wow. Yet laying off on the wireless side.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

Unless a time machine can take Wireless to before 2003, there is zero reason to Unionize.

The only way a Union is tempting for Wireless is if everyone can get those pre-2003 protections, which we know will never be allowed to happen.

Why would you eanpnt to leave if you don't do much,..the union way ...performance redistribution makes an average union worker

Post ID: @1kyh+MNpWXsh

Let's stick to the original post. Bottom line is that no EISP will be given since many areas are on forced OT. With the expansion of fiber and removal of copper, fios will be eventually built out to all regions. Wireless is a dying business which is why the company is in reactive mode by laying them off and attempting to open a new line of business which is why they purchased AOL, XO, and almost done with Yahoo. The just reacted too late and thought wireless would be the money maker forever, meanwhile wireline saw it differently. So wireline folks, if you want to leave, just retire and be done versus waiting for that golden package that isn't coming.

@MNpWXsh-1yht, you are wrong. Many people in our shop openly said they voted Trump, and there was no backlash, just political discourse back and forth. For a lot, Bernie was their man and, once he was cheated out of a fair shot at it, they could not stomach the alternative.

BTW, what makes you think Trump's a conservative?

That's a lie since it's stated in the contract an EISP is only permitted to be offered once per year.

On the wireline side the central office technicians received 2 eisp's last year, they didn't get enough people to take. I am here there are going to be two more offers this year. 😎😎 All you wireless people need to join the union.

Are you kidding me ? The unions are the biggest contributors to the Democrats ! Just because union members make good money doesn't mean they become conservative. Go tell your union buddies and UNION REPS you voted for Trump and see what kind of reaction you get. That's right DRUMMED out of the sheeple club.Such BS !

The different is VZW (non union) exit payment 10k or less per employee .

Landline union - esip exit payment >50k per employee

Us non union wireless reps get screwed every way u look at it :

Reps get released "at will" .

Pay increases are based on manager and performance vs union guaranteed pay raises .

Low starting pay vs union starting pay.

Only 401k no pension

Wireless reps need to wake up and call the union before they get let go too .

(Note I am a fired non union wireless rep )

@rcq totally false statement about union members 95% of the time voting democrat. In verizon, when you're making a Republican wage and paying high taxes, alot of the verizon union force votes Republican. Union meeting used to be everyone in the shop. Nowadays they're thrilled to get 45% of the techs at Union meetings.

It's because the mentality of the union is entitlement plain and simple. They are like all the millions on welfare the Democraps have hooked. It is not a coincidence that 95% of union members vote Democrap. You owe me mentality. Real men leave on their own if they had enough of this stinking rotting corpse. I did 2 months ago not waiting around for 40k after taxes on a rif.

Can tell when misinformed people post stuff here. Two different lines of businesses means two different sets of accounting. If the wireless line of business net adds is not meeting expectations and is decreasing, then the elimination of employees occurs since not as many people are needed is said line of business due to reduction of work; hence call centers are closed, store employees are eliminated, etc. Have not many in wireless not noticed that there is a reduction in customers visiting the stores or calling in? Yeah makes your day easier but wake up and realize that that means you are not going to be needed. People expect a paycheck even when their line of business is not making money, what a joke!

Currently the wireline needs their staff and is not offer EISP or any other form of packages. Just because you want to go doesn't mean that the business has to feed into your demand. Wireline is meeting their fios adds and are actually short staffed which is why many have forced overtime in some regions. There are eliminations of positions simply because technology has changed. A perfect example is coin operators, who really uses payphones anymore? Company is also creating new business where union is not used, maybe the union should bargain to gain some of these new businesses versus concentrating on EISPs? Not a smart one in the bunch that constantly post looking for a way out.
