Thread regarding Sears layoffs

If any1 can answer?

I had a question maybe someone can help with this

There was an employee at my store that applied for a lead position

She filled out her info she was told she.got the job sent for a drug text. All was fine then was told the next week before she started the job she was told that she no longer had the job. They brought in someone from a store that was closed.

Can they do this. if anyone knows can help or has any info i would appreciate it

It does not matter if they told you that you have a job. Util you are officially hired or transfered to the new position and coded for that postiion you can be rejected. It happens all the time.

If the budget changes or the store employment situation changes or they find someone from another store who has experience to do the job they can take that person. this is not just a Sears/Kmart thing this is any job you will ever apply for especially within the same company. Just let it go, nothing iliegal or immoral about it. Just business.

my 2 cents:

unfair = yes

not cool = yes

legal = likely (unless discriminated)

sue = no, save money, by the time it settles (it'll never go to trial) we'll have no money to pay

i just didn't think it was right they told her she had it and then take it. i understand if someone with more experience got it right from the start

RE: @MOp9ep6-gts. It is not worth the consultation fee. Save your money, forget about Sears and go get you a good job some place else.

its called seniority and/or bumping rights if its applicable - she of course can check with an attorney if she wishes to pursue legal action might be worth the consultation fee

I mean, yeah. Just like her job can be completely eliminated like a lot of other people.
