Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

What has changed?

There are still people on my team getting 10-12 contacts per day, what is up with that. People complain about the high metrix but when it is dropped they keep working to get the high numbers. People are still working long hours too. I don't get it. This is what got us in this place to start with. They said that there was never a talk time we had to get everyday, well that was a lie, it is still on the scorecard as a peer average. I really wonder how many HCM RNs have left. Still on my mind for sure.

Like the most recent poster below me said it should be a competition. I've been thinking this from day one! And even mentioned that in one of those pre town hall state your questions which never get answered by the way. It is ridiculous to make it a horse race. Extremely illogical. Someone told me H gets paid from Medicare for each successful contact thus that would explain the race aspect. I have heard quotas are everywhere at other companies too but I wonder if it's handled as ridiculous as here. It could be sooooooo much better if just that one area could be softened. But obviously won't be because it's about $

Yes, the call audits are showing just that. Only friendly touch calls and nothing else, no goals discussed on the call, only five minutes long but enough to take a member contact, change the dates in the care plan and take the care plan updated actions. That is how they are meeting and exceeding metrics. People on my team are now being called out for it. Then these members are put on my roster with nothing at all done leaving everything for me to do. Then I get a bad score because I didn't add that my member speaks English because I had to make sure I did all the survey questions because the former care manager didn't address it. We can pull reports on each other and see just how many contacts everyone is making each day. If you take a closer look not all are "real" calls. I look this up and keep track and my coach tells me other people on my team are doing more when I know they are not. This should not be a competition. Each person is different and requires different things on the call.

It's the people who padded their numbers by calling the same people over and over again just to chat with them, well those little old ladies are expecting that call every morning at 9 am now and how can they get out of It? The people who cheated the system before and made the metrics miserable for the rest of us are now in a position where they can't relax. They deserve it.

They are still pitting everyone against each other. I left and I know 5 other RN's who've left. I feel so much better getting that weight of unattainable goals, not just metric, off me. They may act like they are backing off and somewhere out of the blue pretend they care and want to hear our concerns but management is like a wolf in sheeps clothing right now.

Easily explained. They are doing it out of fear.

Some People on my team are also exceeding the contact rate of nine. They are stupid. They are probably trying to get into the exceptional range for their raises but that is managements way of manipulating them. I don't know anyone who's gotten a raise greater than 4%. I may be wrong but that has been my friends experience. Talk time will never go away no matter what management says. They are just trying to keep nurses from leaving. I do appreciate management dropping the contact per day rate back to nine. For me it has made a big difference . I feel I have a better life work balance. My talk time has actually increased now that they say they are not measuring it . LOL. Still looking for a new position. I just don't see HAH as a long-term career option anymore .
