I have a feeling that specialists will be like Home Depot. We will be reduced to half and all in one location. So no more will there be Flooring or Appliances or Millwork. You will be required to learn all of them. This way they can focus on just sales. Hire more PT to take care of departments. Lowe's continuing way to get more from less. I am almost 100% sure this will be the next big change. Probably near end of year.

This happened in our region last October. The install folks were worked into the sales floor. One went to hardware , another went to paint, the pt went to floater and the other pt left, was only working every other weekend. Of course the dept. mgr moved to a DM position on the floor to then losing the position with the new restructure. No one lost a job or pay in our store.

It's still to early to tell how CPO is doing , but not to painfull to implement. The biggest issue was tracking details that installers were sending back. It was set up to be done in receiving, but we ended up having our installers faxing or emailing directly to the dept. and keeping a log by the fax to record and files for whatever dept. used that particular fax.

Installed sales, ProServices d---s, dumb a-- vendors,...get rid of them all and hire 30-40 more qualified PT folks per store - that's the way to turn things around, The "Pro" aspect of Lowe's is a joke as it is. I would never go to Lowe's for any of this crap...find a LOCAL person to do it for you and get a quality product you really want.

It will be interesting to see how the Sales Specialists are going to deal with all the complaints from the customers and the installers. Try and make sales while fielding all those calls! Most of the calls come from an incomplete or inaccurate sale. The days of selling and then washing your hands on the fallout are soon to be over.

Unless you have been in installed sales you don't have a clue of all that they do. You'll soon find out when they go away. Have fun !

What will happen to the current DM's?? Are they going to be CSA 5's??? I am glad they are eliminating these.. At least in my store. They are worthless. Don't even do half their job. Make everyone else do their job. Won't get power equipment licenses. Won't stage their orders. Just send emails to others. Waste of a spot IMO..
