Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Murthy announcement

it will be announced on 27 April Intel to exit mobile.

Murthy statement "we are shifting capital away from mobile to higher yielding opportunities"

internally there are several reasons. Apple is not happy with Intel roadmap. There is no path to profitability with 50% of one customer.

Intel will keep a "capability" in 5G to provide leverage against future suppliers.

Shifting capital to higher yielding area =looking new challenge in resume. We all know what that mean. 7560 is product of no customer, 5G goes nowhere. This shows Intel great leadership.

@tqv So something is true because people speculate about what the implications would be if it were true?

Logic ain't your strongest suit, right?

Looks like information posted by OP is true, since the debate become "what is the implication rather than the information itself".

@nuk Welcome to the board, Qualtroll. You seem frustrated. NXP merger bringing you down?

You don't even know how much Intel gets from Apple for the modem. You would probably be surprised if you knew. But even if Intel was giving it away for free, it would be worth taking revenue away from the Qualmonopoly.

Yea, the Qualtrolls will laugh when Intel Mobile and Mediatek eventually die (and let's be realistic - it will happen sooner or later), but they will choke on their laughter when they realize what it means for the mobile job market when there is only one modem company left. "What, you want a raise? Well, if you are not happy with your salary, you can go somewhere else. Ha. Haha. Hahahahaha!" So enjoy the ride while you can, Qualtrolls. Let's see how you pay off the mortgage for your house in San Diego in ten years.

Intel s---s at mobile and Apple only using Intel to keep prices low. Intel is a s---er to supply Apple at the prices it is getting, but who says management is smart?

Out of curiosity, how often has it been claimed on this board that a "Intel will exit mobile" announcement is just two weeks away?

Apple has dictated Intel's current mobile roadmap. Difficult to be unhappy with something that you have defined yourself.

shifting from mobile doesn't mean any implication on Infineon as wireless is mandatory in any alternative direction (automotive, drones, etc) as all future products will be connected to the cloud. if Murthy doesn't understand this then Intel will be in big troubles.

EU site closures is in progress, Intel acquisition of Infineon only means Infineon dead, Infineon employee jobless, and billions of Intel loss
