Our ASM worked really hard. Store manager, operations manager, HR, and leads hung out in the hub and did something next to nothing.

I guess I'm lucky I work at a store where all the managers unload the truck. Sorry to hear that isn't the case at other stores. Our SM and ASMs all work their butts off.

I was a lead at my Sears Store, now closed, and I worked my butt off. We had to set the example for our cashiers, and merchandise customer assist associates. I can say that some of our ASM did not work hard.

When I began to work for Sears I was shocked that the store manager would never roll up his sleeves and help with truck or whatever merchandise needed to be pulled from the back or help with resets the store was behind on. The mentality was that they were above that kind of work and they would rather it didn't get done at all than to help in getting stuff done. This was true for the other 3 managers that followed in succession. this was not the case at Walgreens where the managers always rolled up their sleeves and helped complete whatever work had to get done.

At Sears anyone in a lead position or higher would just hang out in the hub.

I'm not sure if this is just new to the Sears side, but on the Kmart side, it wasn't at all unusual for ASMs and SMs to help with truck unloads, even before the mass layoffs. Of course now, of the 3-4 people unloading 1200+ piece trucks twice or more a week, half will likely be of the manager variety.

You should have called the 800 number as that is the correct avenue. That is why we have the 1-800-8ASSIST number for any concerns.

Does this apply to the operations manager? I would enjoy that.

There was a woman in my store, a soft lines lead, unloading the truck by herself.

I reported this to HR. I asked to be anonymous.

It was not. She went around getting statements from everyone. Creating yet anouther hostile work environment.

Sears let one sick women onload their appliance truck.

While their SM scheduled everyone off and he came in late that day.

Dirty company.

This company continues their horrible practices. Forcing people out. Trying to make sick people quit.

Shame on you Sears.

I also worked in a GAP store and as the store manager, I always had to unload the trucks when they came in. I would have my associates help as they could.

And by the time this is over and done, the SM will be doing the truck, by themselves.

Love to see the managers doing it since in my store all they do is talk and assume its so easy maybe if they did the actual work they can see what its all about.
