I've left intel (SC12) this year with 6th grade, $110k base and SL4. Mostly because every company pays more for 7 years of experience. Worked for 5 years in total, started with grade 5. Green card holder, relocated 3 years ago using L1. Got promoted S -> EE -> S, made it from $100k to $110k only. The question I was asking myself during those years — "It this happening to me only or Intel pays the same (or close) to all six graders?".

OP,The numbers look reasonable to me
@1ykw - you are so awesome. We all wish we could be just like you. How oh how can we ever live up to your standards and be nearly as awesome as you are? Because, you know, we can never be as awesome as you.
49 years old and only G7? Yes you're screwed. Should be at least G9 by that age. I was mid G7 by age 29.
How much does your new job pay?
I am Ind male, 49, only mid-grade 7. 20 yrs at Intel FM. Am I screwed?
My dept in Oregon is hiring G7 at $118k base (PhD starts at G7 if you come from a good school). In SC you would get geo adjustment of +12% or so. The 110k base for G6 in SC seems reasonable.
How could the range even be below 100k when the lowest posted salary for a software engineer is 104,579? http://h1bdata.info/index.php?em=Intel+Corporation&job=Software+Engineer&city=SANTA+CLARA&year=2016
Baseline salary for grade/role is pretty much public information. PHD starts at grade 6. Masters start at 5. Just look at the common higher pay then the one below that.

SC is 107k for grade 5 and 122k for grade 6 .

in Oregon 88k for Grade 5 and 103k for Grade 6 is what they are starting people at which is usually the median for the grade.
Did you get green card?
what's the type of work you do ...Intel's base pay is below the median
Does your salary include geo diff, if not it pretty ok.
S -> EE -> S is what happened to me while in US (OU -> S what happened to me before relocation).
