With recent asset sales/ potential sales- could Chevron be readying itself to be an acquisition target? Is any major big enough to buy Chevron? Wild I know.

2hsk - Just an observation of Seneca looking to hire operations personal in SJVBU.
I don't think Kern River is for sale but I'm sure chevron wouldn't mind offloading some of its secluded assets in SJVBU.
What's to checkout @2yyk. It's a job posting by Seneca Resources Corporation for an Operator position in the Coalinga, California area. What's the big deal about?

Selling Kern River? Quite the cash cow to be giving up.
Bakersfield and kern river are for sale as an assett right now no need to buy the rest of chevron for it.
Chevron is selling off assets. A major may soon buy CVX for Bakersfield and the professional HR staff.
May ConocoPhillips should buy Chevron and unload assets and deadwood employees and management
We're nearly broke, pal. No money for M&A. The little money we have is for paying the dividend and keeping the lights on.
"Chevron could add ConocoPhillips to their acquisition trophy case".... Really? With what money?
CVX has historically grown through acquisitions (Gulf, Texaco-Pennzoil, Unocal). ConocoPhillips is in process of cleaning itself up for purchase (pure upstream; selling off marginal, non-commercial assets). Chevron could add ConocoPhillips to their acquisition trophy case.
