Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

PTO

My advice to all, use all your PTO, all hours in those so called buckets they set up last year.

This was a set up for us not to use. You don't get to use your personal hours once they terminate your position. i am so sad to see this happen to our most dedicated and hard working associates.

All of these young, (lean) new hires have no sense of urgency, nor do they care about member service.

Good luck to all, and remember, there is life after Sam's.

My point is, we got ripped off when they put our personal time and sick time in these so called buckets. This is what you lose if not used. Then when given a severance package, you can no longer use. I had 470 hours combined that i lost. This is what you get for being stupid and going to work sick when you should have stayed home. Always caring that i had to be at work because i did not want to fall behind on work. This thing about you having to use your PTO hours before getting into your personal or sick leave is a scam and they know this. Good luck to all and god bless.

If you are laid off, they will ask if you rolled over any from last year---you can roll 5 days. They will give you that + 5 days from this year. No more.

How can they only pay you for 5 days of you've earned and not used many more

Salaried associates may get their PTO buckets filled Feb 1, it still doesn't mean it is all earned at that time. It still works similarly like hourlies. Let's say you get 36 PTO days. This is 3 per month 'earned'. You take 10 days off in March. You are technically in the 'hole' by 4 days. I have not heard of it happening but they may be able to make you pay them back. The HO now has a working PTO tracker as of this year Last year it was on the honor system.

For those reading this post please be careful. PTO accrual between hourly and salary associates is completely different. Hourlies gain is as they go whereas salary members receive it all up front. As far as these so called "buckets" yes, there are ones with no payout, like your sick time. The only way to use this is by taking an LOA to take care of a family direct member. Check the facts and do your research before making any decisions regarding burning through your PTO. Good luck!

no! don't use all your PTO!!!! PTO for the year is all paid in advance. You have to know how much you have accrued ytd. that is all you'll get. if you use too many pto days they will absolutely deduct it from your final pay!!!!

No. You only get 5 days, regardless of how many you have left.

If they terminate your position you would be compensated for the unused PTO days in a lump sum no?
