Anyone here that was rehired after they left Intel? I wanted to look at the options and how hard it is both administratively and procedure wise to get back in Intel. I am getting a short but very exciting contract opportunity that is worth leaving intel without burning bridges. However I do want to come back in few months. Please share your input and experiences with rehire if any.

I know a couple of folks that quit and later came back as blue badge contractors
Former employee here (MT, operation D1D Hillsboro, Oregon. VSP in 2015. I have been trying to get rehire since 2016 to present (4/24/17). I could not get an interview. I was sent a a background check form to be filled (2/2017) out which I sent back but never heard from the intel contact person. Tried email and by phone. No call back. I have reference which include process engineers who liked how I performed. Found out that my OM (manager) was ISP in June 2016. No luck getting hired at other companies. Still searching.

Sometimes there is a partial freeze where managers are allowed to candidates that qualify as a URM but no one else.

I know of someone who got rehired recently dont know if BB or GB. Where is the hiring freeze? I saw job postings.
intel is on a hiring freeze. our head counts exceeds that before the original ACT last year due to acquisitions. they won't like that you left for a short time for something "exciting". if you leave, don't think you'll get back.
I left Intel in 2013 (Equipment & Process Engineer), why would I want to go back! I love my new job, there is life after Intel...I should have left sooner. management was getting worse.
Towards the end, I learned to use them to better my professional career, now I'm happy, no more working 6-7 days a week, I even get my 1 hr for lunch & vacation, ha!

As a manager I can hire back someone that already left the team and we did it several times - no such constraint. If you got VSP/ISP so you will have black dot and you will be blocked by HR. There are many great companies in addition to Intel - if you are talent then you shall not be worried.
I left Intel back in 2009 and tried to return to other Intel Fabs but was not able to. I heard once you leave Intel they automatically disqualify you from returning. I heard this from an Engineer from a "top school" that left due to family issues and once those issues were resolved he tried to return but his old manager told him that he legally could not take him back. So he went to work for AMat instead which supports Intel. On the other hand I do know of someone who returned to the Intel in AZ. He was a former Litho manager and went to be a Director at a small company in the bay area then returned to Intel in AZ. I guess it depends on who you are. If you are not a "Top Guy" or know someone who can get you in then you will never return to Intel once you leave.
Why would you want to go back?
if what u do can be replaced w less costly employee forget about it.....its the only way intel can survive.
