Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anyone wondering why we go through so many execs?

I've been wondering why the revolving doors over at Hoffman have been spinning so fast. Mr. Hollar, the CFO, didn't even last a full year.

I specifically wonder about the CFO position at SHC. I know that the company is in it's final stages, thus it is natural people want to leave. But I also wonder if all of these departures go beyond that.

As for Mr. Hollar and his predecessor, Mr. Scriesheim, I wonder if the real reason they left was due to being placed in a precarious situation. I wonder if Eddie is twisted their arms to manipulate the books or otherwise break the law in other ways to make things better than they actually are.

There's a lot more to this story than the fact that it's only a sad, dying company. The turnover of executives in this company is unbelievable.

@1uwd. Just be honest. You have done your best at Sears and are looking for a new opportunity. Interviewing isnt easy. You have to do a lot of it to find the right opportunity. A good company will understand that you are looking for a better opportunity and wont make you feel bad about your current pay.

Yes, people leave for better opportunities at stable or growing companies. These execs don't want their most recent job to be the failed SHC. Makes sense.

I'm having trouble explaining why I work there and I am nobody. Not a decision maker by any means. The Sears payscale is working against me too. Not all recruiters know that Sears pays so bad. They kind of look down at my hourly rate but I don't want to get caught lying about it either.

I truly believe people leave for better opportunities. It isnt about Sears but rather what is best for the individual. There is no wrong doing.....just an individual who said hey I can work someplace else for more money or less stress or something. We all know the story with our company. We need to figure out a way to drum up money to fund operations. There is absolutely nothing secretive about that.

Sears can't recover from this mess.

When you get ready to file bankruptcy you go outside to hire a law firm who brings experts in for bankruptcy. The board member who left recently was a key member of a firm that is tops in bankruptcy.I believe he left so there would be no conflict of interest when his firms take the lead role in Bankruptcy proceedings. The statement about the CFO had no issue with the company as per its fiduciary responsibilities was important and has meaning to assure investors he did not detect fraud or wrongdoing on the Co's part and left in dispute over that.

They have a lot more freedom to do whatever they want as they make so much money. If smart they would live an average life like us and save up the money so after 10 years of working they would be able to retire.

Didn't see an email yesterday because I didn't have a chance to check & I'm not important enough to get many emails that have to do directly with me so I don't prioritize it.

I have taken the flight out the door to mean Get Going when the Going's Good. Be working somewhere else who when the company finally implodes. There are only so many million dollar + jobs to go around & you want to be in one when SHC finally & completely implodes.

From what I have observed these executives are incompetent but also lying snakes with no conscience. Hollar came up on my pebble feed frequently with his nonsense. He wrote some of those SHC speaks propaganda pieces too. The others too of course but I noticed him more for some reason.

I know this is how you get ahead in business but it's truly abhorrent to try to mislead employees who really need money & a job.

If these guys never worked again, they have ready made more this Q than I will in my lifetime.

Agreed. Poletski was a good example of useless, these folk can only keep talking for so long until the lack of results catch up with them.

A lot more execs got dumped yesterday, see CEO email. I think we can't attract good enough talent and so end up with useless leaders, they spout off the usual propaganda but underneath they are not actually doing anything to turn things around (it can't all fall to Eddie) I know this as I see it every day from them, it's on them to turn things around and they are doing a useless job at it, so they keep coming and going until the odd one sticks.

I was thinking the same thing too. Shouldn't be too long before we find out what's really going on.
