Just the term "Black Friday" is racially motivated. It insinuates a reference to payday (Friday) and black folks. The term implies the black's would be "rich" on payday and willing to spend more than normal. It is my feeling that the "Black Friday" term should go the way of the Confederate flag. It is the white mans way of degrading all black Americans.

@ious, for one Lowes and Home Depot are profitable companies. Sears should be having Red Friday sales. Truth in advertising!

The "amazing" deals are a joke too. I checked several items and Lowes everyday price is comparable to the "black friday" price for a comparable item. Half of what I checked wasn't in stock at the nearest Sears which is 45 minutes away. Only one of the things I checked wasn't in stock at the nearest Lowes--normally would be but they happen to be out. Two Lowes 20 minutes either direction have it.

Further, everything from Sears was private labeled meaning one is totally hosed after the bankruptcy we all know is coming. The Lowes stuff was all name brand.

I don't get what is so funny. For years lowes and Home Depot have had spring Black Friday events. The difference is that was a few weeks ago when spring was starting and people needed stuff. There's no point having a sale after all your competitors there will be no demand

sears is currently running a "spring Black Friday" sale. The poster is implying that sears doesn't have the resources to fund an actual Black Friday sale or won't make profit typical of an actual Black Friday event. Both of which are probably true. Especially the no profit part...

"If you know sears" should have been "if you're currently working for sears"...or if you've happen to have seen the ad.

I feel like the company is absolutely running those trigger words to the ground. Calling everything a sale is pretty typical in business but I've never seen someone have so many weeks of 'Black Friday' sales in a 12 month period in my life.

It sorta grinded my gears seeing those and family and friends sales 100 times a year when I worked there. They've lost all meaning. Absolutely no one even cared about family and friends the last year I worked at sears.

And I'm pretty sure 30% in appliances is one of the weakest sales the company does. Usually it's ether that or 25% anyway although I think 5% of that was tied to using a sears card? It's been while.

Not true...I have worked at Sears for 24 years and haven't got a clue what ROFLMAO stands for.

We had the same sale last year too.

@zfv, Black Friday is traditionally the day the organization starts making profit for the year. We are talking about Sears so that should be the second Friday after hell freezes over.

If you know Sears, this isn't the least bit cryptic.

Thanks for the detailed and cryptic post. At least you know that both organizations had those 7 boxes.
