Yeh cos recruitment agencies are told what's going on before anyone else aren't they?

I was told by a recruitment consultant that a couple of big orders had postponed the consultation process by 30 days then 60 days. Indeed, it is possible closure may be avoided. However, I'm aware of other comments suggesting moving of Gateshead production to West Gulf Bank with possibly machining in India(???).

On balance, rumours are rumours and I'd suggest that Gateshead may avoid closure. I know some staff are sitting tight, possibly to ensure they don't miss out on redundancy. I know of one person who did not take up a job elsewhere due to the redundancy being delayed. That said, Donald Trump's alledged remarks about US companies facing tarrifs on goods made outside then imported into the US may sway the situation towards closure. A substantial number of NOV's customers have US links.

IThe situation for Gateshead I'd say is in the balance at the moment.

No one knows, still on a 60 day break before consultation restarts, if it restarts. Gateshead are turning over 2 mill plus a month, and have a very healthy order book,it's not a given that it will shut. Have been told a decision will be given early May when the extension ends, it is possible it will not shut.
