Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Another test market

heard that the Chicago Market is now a test market to bring back Department Managers, after realizing this isn't working. Sounds crazy, but with this place, it's crazy enough to be true. Looking for confirmation

The busy season is coming now- if you were a DM and are thinking of jumping, now is the time to do it. Send out some resume's. why stay? they are only playing games with hours. Next year every other CSA5 that wants a work life balance will be out. Jump sooner rather than later.

This is probably a made up rumor started by some CSA 5's. I remember the same rumor when they removed commissions.. They will not bring it back and if they did they will wait till all CSA 5's are either gone or into cheaper positions. It's gotten out that this was a salary and seniority movement. Lowe's doesn't like to pay salary..

Our store had some weak service managers selected. Most had no clue what the job would be like and are overwhelmed. Store Managers picked their favorites. Now those who can't lead are struggling. My Service Manager has no clue what goes on in my department. Only setting up work lists and leaving it on auto pilot... They want to retain as many CSA 5's as possible but it is almost impossible to do that. I will not take a huge pay cut to stay at Lowe's. They will only use me for my knowledge the same way I was good enough as a department manager and at a huge discount. I will go part time come Dec/Jan and eventually find another job. The benefits s--- so it's not worth it as a CSA. Can't afford it.. Only thing the company is good for is matching 401K.

I certainly cannot confirm this test rumor -- but anyone who works in the stores can attest to this HUGE BLUNDER to get rid of department managers.

As a former department manager, who remains in my store, I can only sit back and laugh at the ASMs and Service managers who are running around in a tizzy, desperately trying to run these stores with a supervisor at the department level.

There is no accountability and no driving force. Those who reported to me remain respectful, but without my guidance and goal setting, many are simply taking up space. There's no desire to help customers or get projects done. The department looks like hell most of the time. I'm embarrassed to work at Lowe's and continue to look for another (better) opportunity elsewhere.

Would love to read feedback from others, and how things are going on in their respective stores. Our morale has plummeted.
