Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

ANOTHER ALL ASSOCIATE MEETING NOW FEEDING MORE GARBAGE

SO ER now on telling us how wonderful HAH is and showing some HCM's and how wonderful this program is and how wonderful it is that we have helped with lowering admission and hospital stay days. Success is our future according to him. SERIOUSLY..... Even the first guy talking says his last 5 yrs here were "magical"....not what i would call it, would call it a nightmare.

ER tells that "you are the glue that keeps this program going"....if that is true why the layoffs. Such lies and deceit.

It actually feels evil. Propaganda almost unrivaled by WWI Nazi camps: Outright lies; pitting teams against each other; individuals against each other; no raises unless you "excel", almost impossible if you are trying to meet inhumane metrics; no cost of living raises or market comparison raises for years; burning us out pushing us to hurt our health and wellbeing (while spewing garbage about how we should all take care of ourselves) all under this rah rah magical lets go team banner. Can't believe they even think we are buying any of it. My greatest wish, other that to see Broussard lose all his millions made on the backs of the lower and middle classes, is to get a union in here. Or to have some regulatory body come in and really take a look at how they are cutting corners by burning us out. Or to have a large newspaper or someone like NPR get a hold of what is going on here. I've worked a long long time and have never seen anything like this.

When your coach and COM is telling you that you had to exceed peer average or else what are you supposed to do? When they say that they will be on top as highest performing or you are fired, how can you have solidarity to keep metrics down?

Hey New Yorker... I would like to go with you! Does that association protect all nurses or just hospital / patient care-nurses? I agree we would have more strength in numbers but how many HCM RN S are willing to keep their metrics at 8-9. So many are bullied into higher metrics or else...

As an impacted employee (Who is so glad to be leaving). I was spending some time thinking about the meeting yesterday. I can honestly never remember any previous job I've ever had (started working when I was 14) where I was lied to like that.

Maybe I've just been lucky.

Having the perspective of leaving really makes me realize how little I valued myself by allowing myself to be treated like this as long as I've been at Humana. Good luck to all my honest, hard-working coworkers.

Maybe we as employees should take a day to log in and sit with our phones SILENT the entire day. Shut them down.

Nothing is going to be done, until we stand up and. fight. This crap would not happen in NEW YORK, we had an association that protected the nurses from this unfair treatment. This is what happens when you don't have representation. Someone on our side speaking for us not for the big shots with all the money.. New York here I come!!

I wish we could know more of what the "analysts" are referring to in this article from today (see number 4-expect a further reduction in staff)

So, one of the things they said they are going to work on fixing is the inconsistency between the coaches. Which is great, standards should be more uniform. But I also think that the coaches walk around with an axe hanging over their head as much as we do. They are at a loss about how to get us to meet impossible metrics, so they come up with shrill, impossible demands to save themselves. Humana promotes "yes" men who are all about the numbers. I think the real problems are with people that are much further above the coaches heads. People with no grasp on how to run a program and people without vision.

They spend all this time talking about pillars and new directions, like we should be excited. I will be excited the day that they roll something, anything, out that makes my job and stress level improve. When I started, they rolled out parental leave, which didn't effect me, but made me proud of Humana and made me think I was working in an evolved place. I have been wracking my brain for any other initiative that I thought was super smart or insightful and forward thinking. Just epic stupidity and a bullying culture to squeeze productivity and raise my stress level through the roof.

I am not even going to waste my precious time attending town halls anymore...listening to how amazing we are and HAH, I instead will either....take the time for wellness, which I never get anymore and truly need...or make another call to a member...to try to meet my metrics. Not worth listening to the BS anymore. Its obvious uppers don't care and aren't listening, I am an HCM RN, and will so miss my members and wish so much we were still able to help them improve their health as we were hired to do, but not worth sacrificing my own anymore...had one 15 min break today away from my desk in order to meet metrics. Time to move on....our health is important too....no?

Horrible BS at the meeting, I used to to TRY and feel enthusiasm, but when he said something along the lines of wanting to know the HCMs opinions, I thought, oh really? really??? How many times I have written my thoughts or suggestions and USED my name, not trying to hide, and no responses...And when he said Wow look at all the comments and questions coming in so many of you are enthusiastic about what is happening. I am thinking really? The comments are because we are enthusiastic? I think many if not most of us want to be enthusiastic but sadly, and not to be a total complainer, it is harder to be so! I TRIED to stay positive all the time I have worked here, but more and more I am looking for somewhere else.

As an impacted employee, I'm having a hard time justifying the "everything is wonderful and magical" optimism.

The only thing I took from that town hall was the smarmy guy off screen who said changes are coming and he was unable to lie about how challenging they will be.

I'm so happy I'm out of there soon. Good luck to those who remain. Find something better where your value will be appreciated and you are respected enough to be told the truth.

One thing these days are good for, showing millions of people how the system REALLY works.

Publicly they preach rainbows and sunshine, while privately they chop heads off. This is the true nature of corporate America. You just didn't see it because the money was flowing.

Now that the money isn't flowing, because the economy is tanking, the beast rears its head.

Oh, and disregard the BS spewed by govts and media about how great the economy is. 100% lies

What can we expect going forward? Looking at history? Ummm, I say more layoffs and more great bonuses for the leaders.

They seriously need to discuss what is important to the little guys in the trenches. This crap of "what is best for the member" and "lets reach as many as possible" only sounds to me like GET MORE MEMBERS SO WE GET MORE MONEY. Nothing said of our worries and concerns for our OWN well-being and families. You have all these secrets and back stabbing to make us "get you where you want to be" all while planning the next CUTS. We are told we can ask and speak up about anything as they are open door, which is a lie. You speak out you get a target on your back and get ridden like a bronco in the rodeo till you DROP dead. Nitpicked and micromanaged till you nearly go insane. Such unethical business practices. IF i had known this 8 yrs ago when came here i never would of been apart of this HEL%@

Exactly, what about the layoffs??? Speak up and you are gone. My entire team was broken up and scattered amongst autodialer, inbound, and roster teams. Managed 200 members and suddenly you are just a robo nurse hoping that someone answers the phone.

This data and information and analytics..blah blah blah. Notice how they just go forward and not a word said about layoffs and job security. All about the bottom line and these higher ups making sure they get their BIG checks and bonuses....

"Speak up! Empower yourself" I call BS. They don't want us to speak up! We've been speaking up for.months that these metrics are unachievable and insane, that we aren't even taking breaks or lunches...much less that "wellness" they are so proud of claiming they give us. If they wanted us to speak up, they would listen when we do!!
