Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Why isn't Lowe's sued for age discrimination? Why do so many stupid people even shop at Lowe's.

It's sad. How many managers does anyone have over 40 in their store? Not many, that's for sure.

You see, once you get passed 50, the minions that work for corporate calculate that you won't be able to make enough money for them as someone younger can...you're days are numbered on Earth, and that's just a fact. Lowe's' answer? Don't waste time on the older folks. Hire them PT, pay them as little as possible, and work them the hardest. Instead, hire younger, dumber people, try to brainwash them, and promote the totally brainwashed to management.

Today, being between 45-65 is the worst age to be in American society. Better to be retired or young because if you're 45-65 you've been written off as not economically viable.

Lowe's is a despicable company - the future of America, and what a sad future it is.

Exactly what I see at the Lowe's I work at. All the older retired employees are constantly being let go or harassed by managers. They require older employees to do more and when it comes to being written up it's the older employees they write up with no substantiated evidence. The problem is they discriminate against the older employees.

I worked at the Fort Lauderdale store as an outside rep.
My original boss who hired me stated. It going to be difficult in training as he was leaving.
I had no training except for their ridiculous apps and Lowe’s University which crams all kinds of of cr-p, supposedly Knowledge without any hands on or people training.
You end up using only one training from their sakes offered which is their windows.
New manager came by never met with me for months knowing I had no one on one training all this time and he did no communication until the the last weeks of my job there.
Assigning me to old time reps who all did their sales in whatever way they wanted.
When I asked for specific training on the skills I was asking all he could offer was “read the online” Lowe’s info. When asked specific questions he said look it up.
A real help to failure.
He also belittled me, threatened me, and offered no possibility of succeeding with his insults and degrading statements.
Lowes preaches how they are so for equality but in realty are age discriminating and push the g-y but don’t subscribe by it.

I will be 63 in June worked in the retail industry for 43 years or more. And I just want to let you know that Lowe's does discriminate on age. I have tried to move up with a company it's almost impossible after you reach a certain age. And all my interviews I have been denied. They either tell you how you did an interview well we found somebody that interviewed better than you which they had absolutely no experience or very little experience. To me that's age discrimination or just basic discrimination. How can I tell you stories. Anybody would like to email me my email address is voodoo3d30@gmail.com if there is any attorneys out there or anybody else going through the same problem there should be a class action lawsuit against Lowe's.

I couldn't say whether it's age discrimination or not, but that said, I can't imagine a single reasonable person over 40 who would actually choose to work at Lowes. By the time you're 40 you should have the experience and skills to actually earn what you're worth - and you won't get that without HUGE headaches and daily emotional beatdowns from the top - trust me when I say NOT worth it at Lowes. And for the record, I used to be a DM. Leaving was the best decision of my life. I took my experience and put it out there. Now I work for an amazing company making more than double what I earned -even as a DM. Crazy. Lowes is good for the resume. That's it.

Based on your grammar I think I have an idea why you didn't get promoted.

Lowe's discriminates against older workers. They will not promote them they treat them poorly given the worst schedule possible they promote younger Associates to management positions. I know because I'm one of them one of many. I've tried to get promoted up to depart managers positions denied. I tried to get lateral positions for specialists denied younger Associates got the position with less experience. 44 years in management retail can I get moved up. I wish we knew an attorney to put a class action lawsuit against Lowe's for discrimination. They make it where you either quit or they fire you and I'm one of them ended up quitting after being on medical leave I get text messages from friends saying I know I see you retired or quit. Didn't do either one.

I noticed Lowe’s has a question on their application asking if you’re under age 40. I thought it was a odd question but being 44 I answered no. I might as well just withdraw my application.

Yes, Lowes got rid of ALL of the dept managers on Jan 31st 2018, after they demoted them to CSA5's. They kept the ones they wanted by promoting them to service managers. Then, a year later they created the position of Dept Supervisor. This is how Lowes got rid of their older employees, and the ones that made the most money. Then, they take a young dumb person and "promote" them and pay them c-ap wage to be a "manager". Today, Lowes stock is at 65 hahahahaha. Keep making that money Lowes lol. Keep making those great decisions Marvin. You get paid even if you fail like you did with JC Penney's.

This is true even today 3/19/2020. Lowes stock went from 126 to 65 hahahaha. What dumb fcks. Keep relying on china for all your products Lowes. You are headed for the toilet.

I watched as Lowes got rid of all their old timers..........all of them. They hired young phone watchers who run from customers. But, Lowes can lie to them and they believe everything like it is the gospel.

Yes, obvious age discrimination. But, our govt doesn't care. Coronavirus (Chinese virus) is upon us and will off even more seniors.

Some of you are truly stupid. How many of these over 50 workers you know are part-time without benefits? Most of them, that's who. People who were hired "seasonal" (temporary) but are kept on after 6 months with no benefits and no chance for a raise because seasonal employees don't get raises. This way Lowe's avoids payroll increases while screwing the people who actually work. I personally know two people over 50 who've been there more than a year and they are both still seasonal.

Are you dumb--ses really this stupid?

Lowe's is a sh-- company - if you actually like Lowe's and think it's a good company then you are beyond help. I suggest you stay at Lowe's because they love sheep like you.

Not misinformed. Just do a search on Lowe's top 2000 employees. There are 30 service managers and 130 CSA Vs. that's a 4 to 1 ratio of demoted to promoted. Just cause a select few kiss asses got one doesn't mean the majority was against the older employees.

I will be 62 in 3 days. Have been working at Lowes for 9 years, so was over 50 when I was hired. Was selected for a service manager position. I am not sure where you are getting your info that Lowes doesn't hire older people. They do in my store!

Being on maternity leave doesn't stop you from having your position eliminated. It's sad and unfortunate but you didn't become pregnant and then they let you go. You were pregnant for 9 months and on leave You just happen to have bad timing. What makes you different then anyone else like a guy on disability from the center of excellence program like another said they were on?? Life s---s and Lowe's s---s worse. Just move on..

They appear to have found a loophole in the system

Change a word in job title and old er job title no longer exist.

Therefore job was eliminated.

This is how they get by laying off women on maternity leave.
