Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Kmart Pharmacy Division

I wonder if it is even possible to spin out the pharmacy division as a stand alone company?

Does anyone know how many Kmart Pharmacy's are left?

What about this idea. A Sears Outlet/Hometown/Hardware/FullLine store with a Kmart Pharmacy? I do not know why they did not open a store within a store? The stores have the space and the locations and I think the idea might work well for this company?

@1ydb, I completely forgot about the medicines themselves. If I remember correctly the unopened medicines go back to the vendor the pharmacy sourced them from and the opened ones are either sold along with the customer records to the pharmacy buying the records or disposed of if they are going out of date? Is this still the correct procedure?

Kmart pharmacy could never compete with all the others. Most people would just move their scripts to another pharmacy i.e Wal-mart, walgrens, cvs, safeway, rite-aid etc. way too much money to make Kmart pharmacy stand alone

But why would you go to a Kmart stand alone pharmacy?

Maybe the name recognition means something in some places but here we have Walgreens, Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite Aid, and some that I am forgetting so I don't see the need for KMART to have a free standing pharmacy.

Kmart pharmacy could actually do well spun off.BUT they are attached to huge brick and mortar stores and the company has no way to fund a spin off and also find a way to open smaller Kmart pharmacies. Btw the scripts and inventory get sold when a pharmacy closes and the company pockets that money immediately instead of waiting for a so-so ok or struggling pharmacy to make an income.

@Me12Wrd-1wua The other thing of value in the pharmacy locations besides the customer lists would be the medicines themselves which would be worth quite a bit!!

@1wua, thanks I did not that I was thinking positive that the pharmacy jobs could be saved. Is it true that in a lot of Kmarts the only thing keeping the store open is the pharmacy?

Probably not, the only thing of value would be the customer list
