Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The ~11k laidoff does not add up, last year there were ~110k employees, now there are ~106k, is BK/Murthy using alternative math?

@1wnn: and now please tell us how these silly distractions are benefitting the company? You may omit references to non-existent revenue, just the benefits.

Almost all IOcsT devices are ARM based, no Intel components in sight. Heck, even Atoms has recently been shown to be garbage. The notion that vehicle manufacturers would put their future in the hands if Intel software is ridiculous (would you put your life in the hands of SSG derived software?)

Finally, given the complete absense of success stories from these distractions, what is your rationale for thinking it better to layoff skilled and experienced folks and hire cheap and unexperienced people instead. Seems to me the obvious reason for the lack of success is right there.

Of course Intel hired for IOT, automotive, etc. Is that such a surprise? Did you miss what BK said why ACT was initiated in the first place?

For people discussing on a board concerning layoffs at Intel, you are surprisingly badly informed about those layoffs.

When they start the real cuts it wil be a land slide. The tipping pt has not yet been reached. Intel is so capital intensive that it's at a disadvantage compared to others that go through foundry.

Did you account for acquisitions? This is why it usually doesn't add up. Altera and any other small shops etc.
