Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Global CIO Figurehead finally gone

The resignation/ouster of the global CIO is no surprise. He arrived years ago but was never able to capture authority. Nearly all IT decisions were made in Wilton CT -- the only work left for the global CIO was his newly founded SF office for ex-Kaiser loyalists running a hackathon here or there. It is entirely unclear what was being done in the SF office aside from PR-friendly hackathons and tech-window dressing.

The bigger question - why was a local IT office (Wilton CT) making decisions globally for AIG while a Global CIO sat cowering in the corner?
