"while Hillsboro will turn into the next Schaumburg"

I'd give it about 10 years hence for this logical conclusion of what is now called Intel.

"So the reality from a real Intel front line manager is: SSL4 does not put your job at risk. Only SSL5 and IR would."

Anyone who has been in Intel on 19th April of 2016 year would know that it is not true. I do not even understand, if the only outcome for SL5s, SL4s and IRs is only an involuntary layoff, why even make the distinction among them? Unless HR is making employees and managers spend their time wastefully on a useless statistical exercise. At this point the focal is meant to serve only one purpose - only to make the employees run sh-- scared and march to the orders of their pied Piper managers towards their self destructive agenda. Seriously, this company is like a patient beset with gangrene. It's only option to prolong its life is to sever it's limbs at the rate of 10K head count every year and buy super expensive meds at the rate of $15B at a time. BK will retire with a 9 digit package while Hillsboro will turn into the next Schaumburg.

@sry - Upper management is telling you what you want to hear, and only what they want to tell you. Of course there will be layoffs and of course SSL4 is at risk, as they were the last two years. I would even say that SSL3 that are long in grade and/or unaccepted VSPs from last year are within some measure of risk. If I recall correctly, around this time last year, BK and senior management were touting the party line of "no layoffs this year" in BUMs and QGS. A couple of months later, ACT was announced and swiftly executed. BK is evil, a compulsive liar, and not to be trusted.

Half the people who replied are not even at Intel, and the other half are just some trolls who have no clue how the rating system works. I doubt anyone is dumb enough to actually really think "Oh, there was an ACT last year, there automatically will be one last year!" so it's all just trolling.

Anyone still at Intel and with any connection to management knows that there is not going to be an ACT this year. If any of you were in such a position, you'd know how I can be so sure about that.

So the reality from a real Intel front line manager is: SSL4 does not put your job at risk. Only SSL5 and IR would.
