I always get a laugh out of all the union angst and "thuggery" out there. Reminds me so much of all the crap some people had to deal with in high school with peer pressure and being coerced to think or be a certain way in order to further someone else's motives while they led you to believe it was for you. I can hardly believe grown adults still let others have that kind of control over them. But then again we see it in the political sphere as well. Glad so much is coming out in the open these days. Seems openness is the sure antidote to all this. Always better to call out crap for what it is.

The execs only look as far in advance as the next quarters financials. Period. There is no long term planning.

It's never the unions that drive companies under, it's always bad management decisions. Just look at us now acquiring these useless companies like AOL and Yahoo for billions while buying out Vodafone just before wireless hit the saturation point. That's just bad business all around and costing the company plenty. We could have had a lockdown on internet and cable services with FiOS but long term investments were tossed off the table for quicker, cheaper alternatives. Even the automobile companies crashed due to bad decisions like continuing to manufacture gas hogging SUV while fuel was at $4 a gallon.

Hopefully you'll find what you seek. Have to agree with some of your points, the vitriol and unnecessary bashing here make thoughtful discussions all but impossible.

You're better off suing via a per diem lawyer for unfair practices than think the union will act on your behalf.. the union will just use your grievances as a bargaining wedge for other projects which may or may not include you...

I agree, the union is useless. I was a member for several years in the beginning of my time with VZ. I had a few issues. One was a legal discrimination mater that the union refused to assist in my defense. Eventually I pervailed in the case. Other issues came up and every time the union fefused to help, or ignored me. So I dropped out of the union (right to work state) and voted by withholding my dues. Never looked back after that and it turned out well in my favor. I can't wait until the next EISP. I'm gone then before the implosion occurs.

As a fired wireless employee ...

I would still have a job at VZW had I had union protection .

Some of the things I went through wouldb have never happened such at the

-(Lock employees out of inventory room with a physical key "E T R lockdown " )

-being denied a raise 1 year cause I reported a bad director to HR, director was later removed from his position

-being pulled off the sales floor in the middle of helping customers and yelled at by GM due to low numbers in fear of the bad director, who was later removed . (Note GM yelled at staff)

-being forced 2 drive 40 minutes to a 7am meeting last minute , un scheduled cause bad directory wanted to hold a meeting .

-being denied time off 2 attend a religious event

Need I continue about the harassment and mistreatment of wireless employees
