I was one of the 1260 years ago. When the numbers got to around 1200, I saw guys a few years older than me getting the Golden Handshake, so I knew the job would end up being a dead end. I quit.

If you're still there after 30 years , good for you.

I knew I wouldn't be the one mothballing the last store , because they would lay me off and contract it out , based on the way they were doing business back then.

The store managers are held accountable for every penny they spend and they don't want the QMT's in the store because it cost them money that's why they get store personal to try and do the work.

I heard that they are getting rid of most QMT's and are only taking care of things that can lead to a massive lawsuit. I don't know what the dollar threshold is but they will not fix leaking roofs, HVAC problems, plumbing, or minor electical problems anymore. Any minor things like leaking faucests, clogged drains, etc will be taken care of by store personnel. Anyone else heard this?

On our QMT's conference call today, they said at one time there was 1260 QMT's in the company now there is 269 and we should feel lucky to have a job. Don't like the threting undertoans they are putting out just give me my 8 weeks pay and I will walk right out the door and will never look back. So much for giving them 29 years of my life.

@Pittsburgh market, in my market too. Those two & their friend who is a level above need, no deserve, to spend time working in the stores. I like the credit table idea but as you said they would not do very well. And they'd get to sit.

I'd like them @ the central register where I could call them every few minutes about "credit" and then make sure their register is reading high for SYW. After I made a few no phone number needed sales of course. For a 5 or 6 hour shift with no break coverage but then write them up for missing their mandatory break. I hope they weren't planning on using the rest room. No coverage for that either.

My district/Dfm is there now so I can confirm that but didn't hear that we the QMTS were getting laid off. Any one with any more information would be helpful.

Sears Pittsburgh .... They should have terminated the District Manager and Market Leader/Mgmnt positions long ago. they did not add any value to Sears, To increase productivity these two conference call blowhards should be seated at a table in front of a Sears entrance and sell credit cards ... oops, sorry they don't have that skill level. Their payroll is the most wastefull line item expense in Sears P&L. Two prior "retail rejects" only to be hired by Sears
