Layoffs will be first announced in The Oregonian over the weekend. It is also possible that the axing will be done very quietly in order not to attract attention from media and Wall Street. What better way to hide the rotten corporate core?

@3ggz: I too stayed too long I think, liked the engineering side of things and ignored the corporate garbage to the extent I could get away with it. Retired in '15, white male above 45 discrimination, and found a much better and fulfilling job elsewhere. Similar compensation leave early and skip the competition for next gig or wait and risk to be job-hunting along with hundreds of colleagues. While not in the loop, then it's obvious something is going to give at the end of '17 when AMD and the ARMy is eating away at markets Intel traditionally had monopoly status in.
@Ml6YM6g-3ggz I can see how SNE may have high interest in going back as not many jobs that high paying with them benefits, but if you are actually a good exempt I will wager there are lots of opportunities out there. It doesn't come without some risk and sacrifice: moving, new job, cultural, the unknown leap. Many including myself found it too easy to stay at the circus.
I have known for a while this company was one step away from the cliff, but like most at intel found it nearly impossible to make the leap. I am now so happy to be out of the circus. If my boss was to stop and ask me to come back I'd say 🖕.
Love my new gig and can't complain about pay and benefits either nor the future nor the workers etc.
With more layoffs a certainty and for sure less benefits than the years pay and more of health from the last AcT that none of the future ACT victims will get, you want to wait or get out before the $hit hits the fan?
@3eyh: well, the 1st amendment is a citizen vs. government thing, it doesn't apply here. But that aside it seems we're mostly on the same page. I'm not sure how many laid off folks really want to get back to Intel. The upsides (wage mainly) may not outweight the downsides for everybody. Toxic atmosphere, the midlevel feifdom (spelling?) building and politicing, random malicious acts from HR, endless/pointless meetings, etc. Engineering job market is pretty good right now, it's not difficult to find something better and more productive elsewhere. TWWW alone should be enough reason to stay away.
2wkv - wrong. While agreeing the lack of civility defeats the purpose of this forum, I suspect many visit this forum to understand the contrarian perspective of Intel has that Intel management would never reveal to the employees. A company that expects open culture from.employees does everything secretively at the exec level, often to the detriment of every one. To that extent, it makes perfect sense to bring facts that otherwise will never be known. I am sure many want their jobs at Intel, but it is doubtful whether many will be successful at that task. Success is determined by a combination of two things. Stretegy and execution. Having employees spin their wheels and hard work at the wrong goals and they laying off the rank and file when things sour shows pathological mindset in those who are responsible for defining those goals in the first place.
This is a great forum, if used with civility and some structure. There is a lot of whisleblowing here, that the management likely will never here. It does help all those who do not enjoy political patronage at Intel (read as grade 10 and above) for they too have families and careers to care for long after either their job or Intel disappears (as we had known it), whichever comes first. So, do not object to others' right the first amendment.

The trolls are (or pretend to be) @intel. Odd, in fact, given the poor language skills and lack of seeing the larger picture. If they indeed are badged, the bar for entry has been lowered considrably recently. You are barking up the wrong tree!
I used to be very sympathetic of the people that were let go during ACT, but the more I read this forum, the less sympathetic I become. Just because I don't work somewhere doesn't mean I want that company to fail or everyone there to be fired. The fact that some people haven't been able to find anything better to do than to come to an anonymous forum to post anti Intel messages and fake news almost one year after ACT shows these people really deserved to be let go. Many people were probably unfairly let go, but now I'm thinking it was a necessary sacrifice to rid Intel of the trolls of this forum. The trolls are actually making BK look smart.
