DWEP GOM merger

Heard that DWEP and GOM are merging. Headquartered out of Covington, LA with offices in Houston. Duplicated positions will be eliminated.

@5ggk and @5tto, which overseas assignments are you referring to, your comments are laughable!! I have worked probably twice as many overseas assignments as you two(or one envious poster) put together. I can assure you, most of those assignments are capable of being done by brainless morons. Not so with Gulf and West coast area work. You guys are quite the little comedy show. It's priceless. I agree with the previous poster, I believe someone hit a nerve with the useless dead-wood bunch as they call it. There's no other explanation for the fact-less drivel laced with envy that is polluting this site!

Those DWEP guys don't necessarily need to be kept corralled in place. Just feed them a steady diet of shrimp poboy sandwiches. They'll be happy and easy to control.

Having run into a few white pickup driving DWEP bed wetters overseas, I can confirm their coping skills are alarmingly narrow. If everything is not exactly, precisely as they expect in The Gulf, they just force it to fit. Then complain non stop that things are not as they expect. A completely inbred group. I wish them the best in their projects but they need to be kept corralled in place.

Your average DWEP'er would curl up in a corner and cry if they had to deal with the every day headaches and local incompetence associated with an average overseas assignment. Throw them in a really tough place like NMA and they would beg to go back to DWEP in less than a month.

After 34 years with Chevron, (I pre-date Gulf/Texaco/Unical mergers), I got the opportunity to work with DWEP for over a decade. Most hard-working, skilled and capable group that I have ever worked with and always dealt the worse hand and received the brunt of criticism because of it. There's no other group in the entire corporation world-wide who can deal with the adversities and battles that DWEP has fought and were victorious in. Believe what you want to. I was there and experienced it first hand. sling all the mud your want. Those folks are better prepared for life than most. That's a skill that you snoflakes cannot learn and never will through criticism of others.

3bni, you may have hit on something... Perhaps Ken Lay and the Enron spirit are alive and well and are still roaming the halls of 1400 Smith and 1500 Louisiana after all these years. That would explain alot about Chevron.

After all "If the buildings fit......"

I hope the two BUs do not merge. They are focusing on different areas.

The truth is that the contractors are leaving who does the majority of the work. This undervalued group understands performance while Chevron employees have been allowed this false sense of entitlement. Chevron is way over valued and is a smoke and mirrors operation. Not to far from Kenneth Lay and the Enron spirit.

I agree. They are transferring MR to another BU, JS is going oversees, They will be getting rid of many of JS's flying monkeys. Lafayette will be doing all of the training and oversight.

Agree. After 15 years at chevron I landed in DWEP. Worst run group I ever worked in. Complete lack of transparency. Some incompetent management. Very "old school" management style. Everyone with competing agendas.

You are right.. Some people are being moved, some eliminated. DWEP management has some extremely incompetent management and it is best for the company. It amazes me how people are cutting each other's throats who call themselves friends.

I know Manufacturing and Lubricants are going to have some type of integration in the near future.
