Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Non-stop inconsistencies from Oracle leadership & marketing

So tired watching colleagues leaving on their own or being let go as the rest of us not know what is going on or what to expect tomorrow. At the same time MH & SC tell analysts and reporters all is great - and getting better.

It is the complete opposite. I am in Oracle sales and my wife works at one of the larger metro Oracle offices. Conversations with clients are getting more difficult everyday. They are openly hostile as they see me as the face of Oracle. Every support issue, every threat of audit or actual audit - doesn't matter. I get paid nothing for this grief yet have to manage it while not making any money doing my day job because these clients want to buy as little as possible from Oracle. Often, just for spite. If I hear one more time how they are "this close to moving to postgres" I'll explode. I don't blame them at all which is my point. I do blame our Executive team who seem to be following the Titanic playbook of other once great companies. This isn't the company I joined 12 years ago out of college.

Oracle is just killing morale. I have been here for 20 years and 8 days to be exact. I work in NYC and have brown hair and a medium build. I am Caucasian and weigh about 205. My wife worked here for 8 years and it's where we met. I have an easily noticeable cavity on my front tooth with a hole and a huge mole on my nose. People call me Rudolph the red nosed sales rep. I sell cloud apps reporting to Villupuram Chinnaih Pillai Ganesan. I am using the company laptop on the office network. No way they find this out.

@sme - I think you fail to realize that the vast majority of companies using Oracle could easily still be using v8i - it's all the "power" they need. They went with Oracle back in the day when it was the only game in town for RDBMS. Fast forward to 2017 and MySQL and Postgres have enough features and power for a large number of Oracle customers without the LE spectre hanging over them and for far less money. It's true that companies with large investments in back end PL/SQL code are harder to convert but there are a lot of companies that will convert your PL/SQL to for less money than a single Oracle license would cost. It all comes down to numbers and Oracle isn't providing the bang for the buck that they charge.

OP. You just gave out way too much info about yourself. Oracle could easily identify you with that much info.

Dunno if it can be taken down. Never tried, but if so, I would if I were you.

That is..if you care about keeping your job. Which you may not.
