Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Reduction of Full Timers

Go to SHC Connect and look at the All in One Staffing Guide for your store. Match the FT and PT #s to what you currently have. Anything over what's listed for FT is going bye-bye.

The app All in one staffing is not on my SHC Connect,is that something only managers can get into?

There is no way to check how many full time associates should be in each department that I can find on SHC,if who ever posted that, can you let us know how we can find out this information?

@dki why not? Gotta buy before delisting though.

We just have to talk a lot of underpaid workers into buying stock.

I accept that most retail jobs are part time and/or hourly. I think at this point most people working in retail do too. I work for an "A" Sears store and there are 3 salaried positions. Fine.

I have an issue with executives who are newly hired into a failing company making over a million dollars a year and the long time executives making the same although they have endless ideas to squeeze the worker bees.

@qsk, Maybe the time is ripe for an employee take over? I would turn the whole thing on its head and with the experienced folks that remain, it just might work.

It's the norm now with most retailers. More part-timers are hired than full-timers unless you're applying to be an MIT (manager-in-training) or keyholder position. Also, it depends on where retailers put there stores.

For example, my apparel store that I work at is located close to a downtown area. Our hours are only 11-7 M-Sat and 11-6 Sun. It'll change to 10-8 and 10-6 once the MLB season starts. But even then we have a full crew of 14 people working and looking for more hires. There's no reason to have that many employees be full-time unless you're management and we have myself and three others (2 ASM's and 1 SM).

It also depends on if you're an A or B store with Sears as someone below mentioned. Finally, this isn't going to change. Retailers will do what they have to when it comes to full and part time employment opportunities.

Every company has million dollar execs.

it would be nice if they gave raises to the little people. At least they don't say that they give raises when they hire you now.

I just wish someone that actually cared would become a majority stock holder.

It's a good time. The stock is cheap.

Some or even many retailers may be cutting back but not all. I'm pretty old and the retail is no longer a full time gig complaint has been said for 30 years that I know of. So not salaried but hourly. Ok. Poor benefits ok.

But Sears??? Right now Sears is in a class by itself. I'm not going to repeat the problems since they are well covered on here but you know & I know that Sears could go out with dignity in regard to its employees but Eddie Lampert chooses to make that not the case. Except for those million dollar executives of course.

Retailers in general are hiring more part timers yet on the flipside, the quality of customer service is down. Sears and kmart can't really afford full time workers. I think once they collapse there might be laws to ensure that businesses can't use practices that SHC have used

All retailers are doing it.

Sears really isn't any different than any other retailer. No one wants to pay full-time retail any longer.

That is why members walk into half staffed stores. And no one takes their jobs seriously.

It is a part time job now. Very sad.

It varies from store to store. Look up your store to see.

How many full timers will be reduced in most HI departments,in my Sears B store we have 3 full timers and 1 part time person, plus 2 part timers who get zero hours but are still on the schedule.

When would thus be going into effect if full time associates will be reduced?
