Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Let us not forget one thing thru all of this.

Sears. If it makes it. If it doesn't. Let us remember one thing, we must continue to fight, we must try. Our metrics still must be met. Maybe, just maybe we can save it. I admit it doesn't sound good, however there is still a chance.

And let us remember thru all this Eddie got paid only 1.00 per year. His success hinges on this as well folks. Sure he had some money coming into it, but let us remember if this fails, Eddie doesn't make anything. So I would quit blaming Eddie, if anything he has pulled enough rabbits out of his hat to keep this going longer than many said it would.

Its not over to till its over.

Every rabbit he has pulled out of his hat has a tie back to enriching his personal rabbit hutch.

Those metrics you speak of? Money he makes from Citibank, the PA company & selling to the data aggregator. It's all to increase his bottom line.

Read the 10K. All the problems are there. Spoken by SHC itself.

Tried to do a survey the other day. The printer is so old that it doesn't print out all the numbers for the salescheck. The cashier told me they change the printer ribbon but it doesn't help. My SYWR rewards is tied to a email I devote for spam so no access to the ereciept. Oh, well tried but that really bites if someone was going to need to return or exchange something. I also love how they had no one in the women's Cac. I had to go downstairs to check out. Anyone could have just walked out the door with stuff.

Our DM was angry with what he was seeing in the store, so he demanded that we somehow hire several dozen new people over the next weeks. Even before this week's news, that just seemed absurd given how often I heard him railing on and on about payrolls being too high on conference calls. With this news, even if his tune doesn't change, I don't really see many people even WANTING to work for our company now.

Eddie has wached too much of the movie Wall Street, and Sears is Bethlehem Steel , Sears is worth more dead the alive. Eddie as Michael Douglas can only rearange the deck chairs on the Titanic so many times before the end nears. He was never in it for the company, only to plunder it's assets for himself. I hear Store managers are on daily confrence calls trying to pump up Credit and PAs in stores that have little leadership when leaded are on daily calls explaining how they are doing poorly. Retail brick and morter store sales have declined 8-10% per year since 2008. 20 million dollar stores in 2008 are now only $6 million dollar stores with too much overhead to keep them open, soon they will all close.

According to the 10K filing, ESL received $8 million in 2016 as interest on the loans. As I understand it (granted, limited understanding), ESL will get repaid even with a bankruptcy. So Lampert is making money more ways than one.

Yes....let us not worry about simple business, i.e. Money going in the register...let us worry about getting an email address, let us worry about having a customer fill out a survey regarding their recent shopping experience that we "ask them to grade us, the salespersons personal service" not the the company as a whole, let us worry about using an iPad to ring up a sale instead of a register because it looks like we are cutting edge, let us not keep customers happy and coming back because we won't accept a return if a customer brings in a defective item after 30 days etc etc etc ..... what the hell happened to this place?

(It's a rhetorical question, no need to answer it....we all KNOW what happened)

By now we know that anybody posting positive comments about a guy who couldn't managae his way out of a paper bag is either him or one of his stooges.

He deserves zero praise when for years, execs (that I know personally) have argued passionately with him about how to turn things around, and he ignored them all.

He deserves zero praise when he can't even be bothered to leave his island to visit our stores to see how his decision not to spend money on upkeep has adversely affected the atore experience.

He deserves zero praise when his end game is to file bankruptcy with him and his shells being the primary creditors, thus getting top priority when everything is shut down and sold off.

He's a joke that should have stayed in his lane but instead, two great companies will be ashes within two years.

You should see how much he's going to make off your properties. I wouldn't give myself a salary either if I knew that kind of money was coming my way. All he had to do was make ignorant people believe that he was doing this for them, funny he is still smiling as your company burns

OP.

If you had a clue how bad things are right now for Sears, you wouldn't waste your breath or wonder if Sears will make it. The company has sold or is selling its top assets. Do you know anything at all about business?

When companies do this. it's over. Guaranteed.

Hi Eddie - How's life treating you on Indian Creek Island?

Note:

Local real estate agents boast that Indian Creek Island has the “eighth highest income” of any locale in the U.S. Membership to its exclusive country club costs an initial fee of $125,000 plus $10,000 per year.
