They might not even make it to July 8th. I don't see them making it to Christmas if they do

I think July 8th is when his real estate company is safe from having to give the properties back to SHC if bankruptcy is filed.

Trump has been on the job since January, remember sears has struggled for years .the last time they turned a profit was 2011. If memory serves me,Obama was in office since 2009.fair trade and loss of jobs was under the other fellow!

I've read they removed Ivanka Trump products, but I still see it on their website. I blame Trump for all this!

Why should Sears have Ivanka Trump merchandise? They have the Simply Brand. I work at Sears, and I can not afford Ivanka Trump, no pay raise in 8 years, no 401(k) match. My pension is little to nothing, and you guys are concerned about Ivanka Trump, she has money hand over fist.

My store is closing on the 26th of March, so I do not know what's going on at other Sears stores. Have they let go of the full-timer associates? Some of my associates are transferring to another store in our town. Will they be part-timers? Thanks, for the information.

SHLD has never been a retail play. It is about spinning off everything of value as the pieces are worth far more than the company as a whole. SHLD has spun off just about every piece of value they can. This, as well as some creative accounting, will allow them to slowly close stores throughout the spring and summer until they are in the clear to file Chapter 11.

The KMart format is a goner. Any stores that are profitable will probably be bought up by some other dollar chain or regional discount chain and operated under the purchasing companies nameplate.

Sears will survive in a much smaller format - perhaps as few as 300 to 400 stores which focus on Hardlines only.

I also understand that emotions have been quite high for many people for quite sometime now. Especially in the last 24 hours. But I hope people read over what they write first before posting so that they don't come across as clueless or uneducated.

People posting based on raw emotion can lead to lots of people hurling insults and rude, deragtory comments when they are not necessary. Everyone is on here to be civil and inform each other of what to do and how to handle everything with Sears right now. Just wanted to follow up on an earlier post in this thread.

'Game Over' is the title of the thread. No explanation whatsoever from the person who posted it. Then someone comments on the current POTUS' daughter product being taken off the Sears website like that has anything to do with a company that was already on pins and needles for the past 5-7 years. Yeah, it's over, but there's still time left before the company declares Ch. 7 or Ch. 11.

Let's not bring nonsensical stuff like whether the First Daughter has her product sold through Sears as part of the problem of part of the solution. This companies' issues and downfall are much, much deeper and more important than that. Is it even remotely possible to keep the political stuff off these boards?

@ibs; "CUT CUT CUT. Get rid of people who do not care, do not perform or sometimes are simply no longer needed by a smaller company."

Too bad they've just decided to get rid of anyone perceived as making too much money. At my particular store, nearly every single full time associate they axed was someone who was both needed and who inexplicably cared a great deal about their work. From the ASM who probably did the work of at least 4 of the new PT hires, even if you gave them all 40 hours a week, to the BRL who kept our backroom well-organized and the receiving bay always ready for the next truck (as opposed to the new PT backroom associate who can barely receive a vendor shipment without screwing up, assuming they are even around to answer the door, and who does literally nothing to clear the bay for upcoming trucks, leaving it all for the rest of us to deal with) all the layoffs have shown everyone else is that we really have no incentive to care about the company, as it does not care about us. To borrow a public sector term, we'll just work to contract, doing what we're hired to do, but nothing more.

"At the same time reward a core group of employees who perform well and are able to help with the transformation."

I guess that would basically just be limited to Eddie, Leena, et al, eh? As mentioned above, the company has pretty much already shed most of the employees who performed well and could have had any influence on any supposed transformation. What are they going to reward all the new minimum wage part timers with?

@Mqd7GPN-xbe, did you find the BK date from the same garbage bag (media) as the info about Ivanka Trump product removal?

This is just silly... Game over? All this news coverage is about what?!?! There is nothing new.

Same old story from the media for the last 5-7 years... Same old story from different groups of employees & ex-employees. How about you get a life???

If you do not like SHC so much find a better job and stop whining for God's sake.

Here is what Eddie should do.

  1. Find a good CEO who can lead the company 24 hours a day through rough seas.

  2. CUT CUT CUT. Get rid of people who do not care, do not perform or sometimes are simply no longer needed by a smaller company. At the same time reward a core group of employees who perform well and are able to help with the transformation.

  3. Stabilize the current base retail business and simplify all operations.

  4. Accelerate Shop Your Way growth by adding new partners and places where our members can burn their points. SYW is our future and at some point it will be the core business of the company.

P.S. Yes, I do realize that any company can go BK any time and SHC might have higher chances than your average Fortune 500 corporation, but I choose to do my best for the company and people I work with.

Eddie has to keep Sears out of bankruptcy by until JULY 8, 2017.

By the way, a lot of people cut up their Sears cards to protest Ivanka Trump being taken off the website.

The only difference between before the filing and now is that Sears admitted it's got issues. We already knew that.

"Strike three- Taking Ivanka Trump's off your website."

Oh no, not even. The ship of doom had sailed long before the Trump thing (seriously, why should a company keep or not keep a brand based on where the POTUS' genes ended up? So many things wrong with that thought)

What happened Eddie? Strike one - You took over with no retail experience.

Strike two - Thought you and Martha Sterwart could save K-Mart.

Strike three- Taking Ivanka Trump's off your website.
