Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Anyone know if there will be more layoffs before DXC is official?

There's just over a week left for CSC and HPE Services - is the bloodbath done until April?

I know a former HPE employee that left with almost 90 hours of PTO on record... he did NOT get paid for it when he put in his 2 weeks notice to quit.

I also used to work for CSC. I left over a discussion of "the company isn't making enough money on this contract to give you a raise this year". The contract prices went up by 5% that year. No money in the contract my A$$. you just found someone that is willing to work for less than I make that you can bill out at the same rate.

Yes you guys are correct - CSC gives 2 weeks notice for layoffs. I know because I was laid off in August. All those 15 year people at HPE thinking they are getting 30 weeks checks are in dream land. Welcome to the real world of CSC land.

A reply to How can CSC stay in business. . . The population in India 1.34 billion.

Apparently, all they need to know to get a job with CSC is the equivalent of an AP test level of Java, how to say yes to everything and when ask about timeline slippage is reply "I am waiting on a response from " Often the question that they are waiting on is something like "Can you clarify please, you want this programmed to meet the requirements document ?" usually sent at 2 AM EST for a 8 AM status meeting.

How has CSC stayed in business treating its workers so badly?

FYI, CSC has no severance. The 2 weeks are in lieu of 2 weeks notification. In the US no company is obligated to pay serverance. They can change or eliminate it at any time and you cant litigate. Companies are also not obligated to payoff accrued vacation. CSC has 'flex' vacation. They do not accrue it and the workers were given a 1/2 year to use it or lose it. The tricky part is you have to submit your vacation to a manager who has to pre-approve it. Good Luck on that !!! HPers you are going to be shocked.

The Boise site will remain open on a 7 year lease as the State of Idaho purchases the land and in effect becomes the landlord to HP/DXC Tech the tenant.

I was just a contractor for CSC and was given 1 weeks notice. I had 3 months left on my contract. Not good timing just before my wedding. Ironically I have been really happy since I got the news. What a terrible company to work for.

I also wonder if this is grounds for a class action lawsuit. I know several people who were pre-notified that they would be part of the WFR and then told oops they have been cancelled (for now). They were given documents advising how severance worked and how it was calculated and now if they only get 2 weeks. It's just not right!

Don't know how some people can sleep at night. Executives are Slime. People in Management are Slime. They just throw these people out on the street. At Initech we would not do what HPE, CSC and DXC are doing with so many loyal employees. Imagine what will happen when Obama care implodes and there is no replacement. Leaders these days are so forked up. No compassion, empathy or character.

No idea if continuation of service is a thing in the US? I doubt it given no other obvious signs of any workers' rights whatsoever.

In the UK (and almost certainly across Europe), DXC will be the legal successor to CSC or HPE and as such employees service is contiguous.

I wonder if that would be grounds for a class action law suit

I expect that where ever there is any severance that is built up for time on the job, these locations will see a lot of Layoff activity after the merger because for the HR Weasels this will place all of us as having 0 years of service with the new Company. This will justify less to pay out for destroying a Career in exchange for a temporary Share price increase.

@jwl Almost 800 of us unfortunately. Quite disgusting really as is the calm and cold manner in which the dismissals are delivered.

Cancellation of planned redundancies may be limited to the US only - I am certainly aware of people in the UK going at the end of March with a package.

Can't speak for CSC, but in HPE the layoffs scheduled for March were cancelled/postponed until after the merger. People who were pre-notified got an email "oops, we changed our minds". Rumor #1 - they ran out of severance funds. Rumor #2 - severance will be reduced as soon as the merger takes place, possibly as low as only 2 weeks pay regardless of your years of service. I never thought I'd say this but I'm glad they showed me the door last November.
