Last week there was a meeting at GDC for the DCG people. We were told that a new model of doing the design work will be implemented. Everything that can be done by suppliers will be done externally. Official explanation is that Intel will focus on inovative projects with high impact (like drones, AI and Autonomous vehicles. Some people is afraid that this is the first step to layoffs.

Suppliers will do the job faster and better.

The server market declined 7.0% in 3Q16 and 4.6% in 4Q16. Everyone lost revenue Hewlett Packard (-12%), IBM (-17%) and Lenovo (-16%), Dell was flat (0.1%). It is obvious something is coming and it will be nasty for the DCG guys.
