Advice:

During your 90 day zombie retreat do not :

Perform any work whatsoever, use your time wisely and hustle for external jobs

See if its possible for your mgr to approge the cost of a course (depending on your relationship)

Forget current projects , your work will be delegated when you leave so why not sooner?

Internal job openings are a sham you are on an ever growing hit list 'do not rehire'

Network network network (past collesgues or clients)

Update linkedin profile and resume

Backup all your data and i mean everything

The right mgmt service can be useful for those looking for assistance with resume building and interview skills

Do not train a replacement or perform a knowledge transfer to your replacement offshore or a backfill

Say goodbyes throw a party

Take some time off go on vacation plan the next chapter of your work career..

good luck!

Verified, RA'd today. ICS Tech Sales. Not surprised since the remaining IBM Notes/Domino accounts are falling to MS and the revenue from S&S is drying up. Verse cloud and on-prem were not the answer (and too late). Now the brand is turning into a reseller for Box and Cisco. Highly recommend to others jump ship while you can.

Typical separation as others - 90 day employment with 30 day severance or Training bootcamp.

From RA Class of 2016 (last day May 31), my advice: Do not lift a finger to do any work for the company during the entire 90 days. Log on to SameTime as Do Not Disturb every day. Spend ALL of your time looking for another job outside IBM. What are they going to do, fire you? Do not feel guilty. IBM betrayed you.

You're branded with a scarlet letter now and are on the Do Not Hire list, no matter how many influential colleagues you think might be able to help you stay. No one can help you.

Don't take any vacation, and insist that all accrued vacation time be awarded to you in your final paycheck. I had to fight my manager hard on this, but ended up with extra cash for unused vacation time. You might need that extra cash, I did.

Research filing for unemployment in your state and be ready to file on the day following your last day at IBM. One month severance doesn't go very far. You need to hit the ground running. I thought Right Management outplacement was a waste of time, but your experience may be different.

Good luck, keep your chin up and you WILL find a better job elsewhere, as many of us have.

The Tech bloodbath is in full swing everywhere. Good luck to all laid off in finding a job, since pretty much everyone is laying people off.

I recall last year of a huge RA around this time frame (mar 31). Correction, I would know as I was one of them along with a Fury of others.

Advice:

Consult with an lawyer who deals with employee layoffs (ibm will low ball the severance);

If 90 day notice, dont bother applying for any jobs internally (HR will turn the hiring mgr down as you are considered a cost take out; vp approval required, long shot);

Take the workforce mgmt program (right mgmt) to assist with resume/interviewing tactics

Coordinate a big party with your fellow colleagues

Good luck!
