Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Samsung Released Galaxy S8 on 10nm. What will this mean Intel?

Also note that it is a phone that doubles as PC, with a docking attachment. They are also working with MS to support Office suite. .The official death of laptops and MAc books has just started. I have no plan to.buy PC for our school kids. Will buy an S8 instead.

When was you ever saw an HP or ASUS smartphone in some one's hand,? When Samsung, Google and Apple do it, it becomes he normally. Personally, I would not grudge not having to lug my laptop around for editing my docs, spreadsheets, and tax forms. Only developers need bulky laptops. The rest of the world can kiss them goodbye like grandfather clocks went out of fashion a century ago.

HP and even Asus had similar products, nothing really took off however. HPs was on Windows. There are reports Apple might do the same, that might get people's attention.

"Virtuous cycle of silicon . . ."

It was better known as Moore's law until, BK decided to coin a new buzzword to sell his head-in-the-as* strategy to gullible masses. The power of the new buzzword has already died. You don't hear any more of it in BUMs.

Samsung will leverage Galaxy and 10nm to ramp huge volumes and pay off R&D and factory for 10nm

TSMC will leverage Apple iPhone and 10nm to ramp huge volumes and pay off R&D and factory for 10nm.

Intel struggles to get 10nm out the door, slipping it again and again, and volumes of x86 continue to fall making it a huge financial issue to get scale to pay for 10Billion+ factory and billion dollar+ R&D.

Virtuous cycle of silicon has been fumbled by Intel and TMG, but they do make good powerpoints at Manufacture day about how ahead they are, but don't show anything while their products slip and slip and they layoff of people, yet they spend billions buying small companies with little revenue or profits. Total flawed and strategy that will lead to bankruptcy, amazing the BoD lets this kind of things happen!

OP is probably making the point that Intel is going to lose marketshare by a two front attack..One from AMD..

The other from top tier mobile phone OEMs...

But everyone knows that. Even intel execs

Make up your mind OP troll! You brag about AMD motherboards being sold out and then you go back to how phones will make PC's obsolete. You can't have it both ways and you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

You've never worked with Samsung OP as a partner...I have. And while Samsung doesn't make the same fiasco twice, they are fully capable of making brand new Fiasco's every 2-3 years. Don't even get me started on TouchWiz. Or Tizen.

Check it out. Not every company is as capable of repeating it's mistakes over and again as your mother Intel.
