NetSuite and Oracle unveil combined plans for global cloud domination

Interesting read.

"We are now a global business unit inside of Oracle," he explained. "That means all sales, all services, all support and all the development is still contained inside a single business unit. That all reports to Evan [Goldberg] and me, and we report to the CEO of Oracle Mark Hurd. Most important at NetSuite, and for most of our customers, there is almost no change whatsoever."

Oracle CEO Mark Hurd took to the stage at the Sands Expo and Convention Center to outline his plans for NetSuite and for Oracle's transition to the cloud.

"You're going to see 70-80 percent of our market begin to shift from the traditional outcomes to the cloud market," he said. "We are now the fastest growing cloud company."

"Our strategy is to give NetSuite all the benefits of Oracle scale, and try to give it none of the inconveniences of Oracle's bureaucracies," he said. "That's the trick of scale. My job as a leader is to make sure that NetSuite gets the benefits but none of those problems."

That's as good a reason as any why LE should not be in charge, he has never managed to hire and keep any good successor and therein lies his biggest failure, thus his fortune goes down the drain. You can be rich or you can be king, but you can't be both, unless you're Bill Gates. Eat your heart out LE

LE can't figure out the paradox. EG a sheep leading lions. TK makes sure those he led stay as sheeps. Hopeless situation.

EG has no chance. TK has nipped all other successors in the bud. Destroyed anyone who had a chance.

Perfect, look for NS support to move to Romania, Bulgaria and India and be staffed by people who have no clue about its products.

With oracle's home grown Fusion Appas being the unmitigated disaster that it is - see other threads - this is oracle's only bet at cloud revenue growth in the core areas of crm and erp. Only a question of time till it gets gutted like all other oracle acquisitions before it, and with that LE's dream of reaching $10 Bn in annual cloud revenue will meet a timely death.

Test of whether LE can preserve NS and leverage it to propel cloud growth or whether the cost cutters will prevail and destroy it like they have destroyed all other acquisitions before it. My bey is that the two overpaid ceos will destroy it since that is what they are paid for and since LE is a semi- senile checked out playboy looking to enjoy the few years he has left here on earth

Oracle is a holding company and not an innovator. It's only a matter of time before the company s---s all the blood out of this one and moves on to the next one. It's a serial killer of corporate acquisitions.

Total BS. Many companies we acquire are run as GBUs until the dust settles. There is zero doubt that MH will start cutting as soon as he can. How long does anyone think he will look at any org under him filled with competent engineers before he sees opportunities to dumb it down for short term profit bump. There is just too much of a gap in profitability. Outside of BM, the rest of Oracle is cut to the bone (and beyond). It is only a matter of time before the leadership team asks why NS needs support engineers who understand the technology, or developers who can program beyond a non-novice level. The rest of Oracle seems to do fine with almost no skilled engineers, why would NS need to keep anyone around who knows what they are doing? At least, that will be the question MH and his buddies will be asking themselves. Oracle isn't even remotely an engineering company. Any business we buy that depends on engineering skill will wilt on the vine sooner or later as we s--- it and its customers dry.
