When the last rifs came to rss and some ams there was a lot of talk about this only being phase 1 of 3... a few posts stated another layoff coming 5/4. With that closing in any updates on what to expect? I know Q1 numbers were trash and morale in stores is super low... any idea on numbers or who (b2b, gm, ss, etc.) that will be affected?!?

There were 4 rif this month in hq NI team
Network operations had 2 riffs in New Jersey this month. Our vp said more to come. Wireless will be hit very hard this year. Verizon they are introducing IPTV this year in New Jersey lots of work for the union Tech's .
Oh yeah, the stock is also tanking so expect the mother of all opex reductions this year (RIFs)
"I'm glad they never touch network operations."
Yeah, keep thinking that. A very large Network Ops reorg/reduction is in the works. The writing is on the wall.....
The NOC just retooled their call out criteria, they don't call out on anything anymore. A single site down? Fix it in the AM. High temp? Call out the HVAC contractor.
Operations is moving to a centralized model... like NNO.
Ops budget is 100% expense. Verizon hates expense.
Verizon employs 10 times as many Switch and Cell Techs then their competitors do. I know of one very large state that competition covers their network with 2 switch techs and 4 cell techs vs the 30 various Ops techs that Vz uses.
Small Cell - radio HW will be 30' in the air on small cell. There will be thousands upon thousands of small cells in the network. Vz does not allow there wireless Techs to climb or use bucket trucks. Small cell work will be done by contractors for much less money than it takes to pay a Vz tech.

Over heard a manager saying they had a GM meeting on Wednesday. Our district also merged with the district neighboring us last week effective May 1st. Seems to be lining up with rumors.
Thursday.
One more rif and thats it,only on the wireless side i heared a rumor
I'm glad they never touch network operations.
Where did you hear it from?? ∆∆
Whos the clown that said no more RIF's this year? That's a joke. There will be quarterly RIF's going forward until this turns into a growth industry again. And if you think Verizon will be growing again at some point, your high...
oops I thought I was posting on the ESPN board. Yeah, VZ is f---ed.
"I'm hearing no more RIFs this year."
After the results that were just posted, there's no way we will go the year without more RIF's
I'm hearing no more RIFs this year.
