I just looked at Glassdoor for the first time in many months. When did it become the PR website for IBM?

Exactly. That's why I keep urging people to post real reviews there, but every time I say to keep it professional. Any hint that someone is upset, anything that sounds like a rant, they delete it. So everyone go back now and repost your reviews!
That's how GD makes money. They charge companies to 'promote' and have 'insight' into what's going on with visits, geo locations, types of responses, etc. If they pay up, they can respond to posts etc. For GD to be able to sell this, they have to keep the boards 'clean' and 'employer' friendly - every post is being reviewed, you really cannot go off-tangent there - just look how brief and up to point all posts are - GD edits them so they are easy to read and they make sure they eliminate anything that's not 'kosher' for employers.
On the other hand, faced with such a large exposure, each company profile has - employers make sure they invest money into managing what's going on there - so bigger companies have dedicated folks in their soc media teams who manage the dialogue and presence
