Question about In Lieu pay

I am fully expecting to be laid off on the 18th, but I have a job offer already with another company. I know part of the usual package is payment for one month while you are employed but not really employed.

Could I tell them I can start first week of June, or because I am in that month of not really working but still employed will I forfeit any of the rest of the package if I don't wait until June 18 to start the new job?

I got LR'd and I have the same question about In Lieu pay. After the one month notice period,

I get In Lieu pay in a lump sum. Am I still eligible for this lump sum payment if I have already

started work at another company?

Axe confirmed for the 18th, they've let some people know in advance so they can look for internal positions.

During the 1:1 with your mgr/HR when they hand the "package" to you, ask them, if you can turn in yiur badge and laptop right there, and still get the package.

Walk out with your package immediately after the 1:1.

The terms of the plg last year allowed you to do it. It should be in the first 2-3 pages of the pkg.

You get most of the benefits of the plg (if not all). Take your vacation now and come back on the day of the layoff.

Take your pkg, hand over your badge/laptop and leave.

Thats the iptimal way to do this.

Yes, once you have been told, the month after before you are actually terminated, you are not expected to work unless your manager requires you to transition something. They will not assign any new work.

As I remember, you have to be careful not to sign too soon -- it messes up something with the package (don't recall exactly what). Just beware.

I left last August and have been wayyyyy happier since. Better days are ahead for all!

Agree, after your notification I would not expect ANY responsibilities until the last day for PC/badge return, that is what I have seen before.

@N5wE9SO, check with your new employer if starting on 5/31 would enable you to get health coverage from Jun 1 onward, so your coverage is not disrupted!

There is a waiting period to accept the package. After that waiting period you can take the in lieu of pay as a lump Doebelieve however, you can start a new job and just let that run out naturally also. Congrats on already having something lined up.

Agreed with above. Ship your PC in last day and mail in your signed package. No need to go back into office.

I can't speak for the current situation, but when I got LR'd, I was told that there was no real expectation that I actually show up at the office except for the last day to turn in my badge and any company-owned equipment
