rumors were they tried sell VES as a whole two years ago but was way too expensive, now downsizing and cutting off from capital will make it a smaller and easier to sell entity.

it was sold off because verizon cant protect it and has left the businesses who used it open to cyber espionage and breach. they wanted to slice that rotten limb off before people found out.
The reason behind was the XO purchase was to host the 5G network. Once all tower traffic is move to the XO network, you can bet wireline will be sold off to the lowest bidder.
McDumbass has to keep selling assets to make dividend payments and service the giant debt.

I thought I just saw VZ make a huge investment in fiber, over a billion dollars......... Laugh all you want about wireline, but there are capacity constraints (yes, even with 5G). Like it or not, wireline will be a vital piece of this company.
Have been told we are crucial to the one fiber backhaul strategy, so no sale planned. We were told we are a growth business, and we could be actually hiring technicians.
We should be merged into the core, get rid of the lying MCI managers before it's to late. But we're to busy trying to fullfil some uni-tech fantasy....
