Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle is the worst place I've ever worked

The company has no purpose, no concern for or interest in its customers and employees, and no culture worth talking about, other than its focus to make as much money as possible. A vampire squid reflective of the greedy vampires at the very top. If it ever had any other purpose it has long ago lost it

NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING THAT HR IS THERE TO HELP YOU; THEY'RE NOT. WILL SCREW THE EMPLOYEE EVERY TIME. A MANAGEMENT TOOL

Oracle doesn't want any i out for employees, the three stooges know best, everybody else's opinions don't matter and are not welcome! Period.

How about when you file a complaint about your boss , mAde your quota year after year and then get fired 6 weeks after filing a complaint. No input from the field just do as we say as we know it all .

They stole all my stock options, gave me 2 hours to spend my FSA YTD, left you facing not having health insurance next day nor pay and nothing else unless you sign an agreement. How much easier to say hey man, everything rides as is for 2 months but no - they have to act as mental and soul-killing assasins. I met a lot of really good people who just end up unable to effect change and end up in a messed up head space. Hope they don't f up Java or other great technologies they are responsible for. I'm going to need more time to purge myself of all the frustration and anger I accrued over the many long years of stagnation.

There is ACS and OCS which directly compete. Then you have the SI's and partners. Oracle clearly favors SI's and partners but provide very specific product expertise as needed.

Oracle is a top down place, the most important thing to getting a good performance review is not to criticize the place or offer suggestions for improvement. If you do some deranged loyalist in the chain of command will set out to prove their loyalty by slapping you down. It's a sick place, but look at who's running it. Did MH, SC or LE ever ask for feedback and input in a meeting ? Of course not, they know best, so just zip it

Same here, one year I got to work 55+ hours a week to keep my department afloat and the customers happy, eventually I complained that management is not stepping up to the plate which only resulted in a poor performance review. Next year I dropped to max 10 hours a week, I said nothing and ended up with an outstanding appraisal.

I shouldn't complain. I hardly seriously work 10 hours a week and get full weeks pay -:)

Lots of bad reviews of Oracle Digital Prime on glassdoor and seek.com.au with many telling everyone to avoid working for Oracle.

Oracle doesn't invest in people; it s---s them dry and spits them out when it no longer needs them

You have to love all the fake Glassdoor reviews. A ton of overly optimistic ones on May 3rd especially.

Oracle doesn't care about how people achieve results, just that they do, regardless of what it means for customers and how managers treat employees. A--holes are welcome as long as they reach/ exceed their targets. MH is the perfect hire

And to think I worked there for nearly 20 years. Opportunity for middle-aged software developers are scarce, especially where I lived, so I stuck it out for the money. Professionally unrewarding experience, primitive tools, terrible product management.

And with no succession plan, who would run the place ? Oracle is in a dead end

Ah, but you see they are very special employees. They were selected by LE himself, son for him to fire them he would have to admit that he made a mistake in hiring them, and since LE doesn't make mistakes, you get the picture

Employees are simply a cost line in a cost center aka department or bu.

I could not agree more. This was the worst job I ever had as well. Selfish management, hostile and toxic work environment... It only got worse as we got moved closer to corporate. sh--tiest job experience ever thus far.

The facts are all accurate and Oracle is definitely low tier with D grades on customer, employee's, and culture. And no, executives don't read this board, because they are essentially blind or have seriously impaired vision anyway.

The Oracle culture is precisely Self Service, which by itself is sufficient to prove all of your points and my points. You might also be temped to call it greed, but these executives would proudly accept it as a g word.

Instead, I prefer the self-service because this term has two s words.
