Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Round 2

Word on the street is that more layoffs are in the works. The earliest I've heard is that it will happen next week in corporate. Lots of new employees in India being onboarded to replace US based IT staff. The writing on the wall is clear. It's just a matter of time before it happens.

Whoever it is that keeps saying "This is unlikely!" must either be getting paid by Lowe's to try to keep rumors to a minimum, have smoke blown so far up their a** they can't think straight, or just downright stupid. WAKE UP!!!!! Lowe's has been preparing for this mass lay offs for more than 10 years! They have not been known to try to retain good employees since before they closed the corporate office on hwy 268. They did it on a smaller scale then and have been scaling up the lay offs ever since. Furthermore, I understand that all those in the stores are bitter because they were the most recent to be let go but let me assure you that the AX fell at corporate first back in 2012 when they offered everyone the choice of taking a demotion or leaving. Those who stayed were not spared their were hundreds that were still let go even after many volunteered to leave. We were told 30 had to go and when the 1st round was over at least 500 were gone. It all began around the year 2000 when they introduced software that would calculate sales trends. They hired demand planners and analysts who would help get the software running to forecast inventory so that they would only need a skeleton staff to actually keep an eye on the forecasts (in the event of unforeseeable spikes or valleys due to storms, fires, etc). They pushed replenishment staff to get everything running off the demand planning model making that a priority promising to give them better opportunities once this was accomplished (you know, opportunities like --unemployment). Once they had everything running pretty close to where they thought it could pretty much forecast itself they started letting people go. So, yes I understand the store staff is bitter because you recently lost your jobs but IT DID NOT START AT THE STORE!!!! AND IT CERTAINLY WILL NOT END ANYTIME SOON!!!!!! I don't know about most people but I for one do as much of my shopping online as possible. That way I don't have to worry about crowds, checkout lines, parking, RUDE STORE EMPLOYEES, STORE EMPLOYEES WITH A VENDETTA against their employer who would prefer to ignore the customer as opposed to help one with a question!!! So don't get on here and act like store employees are the only ones loosing their jobs. The only one safe in their job right now is Niblock and he will be there until the ship sinks, still making his millions, still getting stock options, still getting his bonuses (something that was done away with for the average employee in the 90's), and when the ship finally sinks to the bottom, the hard work of every employee will assure him a life of leisure to spend all his millions, bonuses, stock options, throughout the rest of his life and the lives of all his kids! So if you are going to point a finger at someone point it in the right direction because most corporate employees are in the same situation you are in. We are all concerned that we will loose our jobs soon; and when CSC-W is done only those with call center background even have a shot at keeping a job. First, because it only occasionally pays more than $10 an hour and secondly, because its the way retail is going....online shopping. They're are very few things I leave my house to buy and those are things I would not trust to ship for one reason or another. So don't be surprised if we all don't end up in an Amazon Retail World.

Lowes shifting into a online lumber depot.

The are minimizing staffing, cutting store

Managers in half, and then finally shutting down certain stores and turning them into warehouses for online delivery sales.

Start making plans to get out within the next two years.

I don't care if all the d---s in corporate are laid off - most can be replaced by a bucket of sand & a clever computer program. It's at the store level where the rubber meets the road, and the tires are getting balder every day. We have fewer FT than 4 months ago, and more seasonal & PT. Lowe's is buying time until the Amazon starts moving into lumber & heavy appliances, etc. After that 10s of thousands will be laid off. Lowe's s---s.
