Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I actually had my best day yet.

On Memorial day I sold all kinds of lawn equipment to people and 90 percent bought a MA! I sold a riding mower to a veteran who was tired of pushing to cut the grass, I told him he deserved a riding mower after his sacrifices. I cant think of a better way of spending memorial day than selling top quality mowers and agreements to veterans.

I told him I would be doing him a disservice by not selling him a MPA. Its a no brainer, with these complicated doo dads these new mowers have.

So while the rest of my coworkers were smoking and joking and busy spreading rumors about sears instead of working, I cleaned house. I sold grills, treadmills, mowers you name it.

You know Craftsman still means a lot to many people, its our duty to provide tip top service to our members, no one wants to shop some where when the employees are all doom and gloom you know.

If you are a negative nancy no one will sign up for an MPA. You have to be excited about our products and agreements. Its so easy folks.

@wpr, You and the corporate drones/propagandist would benefit from seeing a psycharyist.

And being put on some meds.

Any idiot knows not to buy a MPA/Product Protect Plan without reading it first and any associat that sells one should know what it does and does not cover and be honest with the customer.

I wonder which Sears Store "Emmett" works at because it would be nice to pay him a visit and show him a "Real" Sears/Kmart store with poor maintence, etc.

This post above was only directed at the corporate drone/troll and no one else.

The poor-quality toilet paper in the Sears restrooms should be replaced with the Extended Warranty and similar S__T documents sold to customers.

The a---wipe experience would improve, if not become actually enjoyable, and the Warranty and Repair documentation pushed upon the unwary Customer would be put to a better use.

@imml, the manager posting below, I hope you're the hard lines mgr in my store. I see you dealing with all the problems and I always think that you are too good for Sears. I'm glad you're looking for something else. Even if you're not in my store. You need to work where your hard work is appreciated. I wish you well.

Comes to a website called "Sears Layoffs"and brags about success.

Like the poor SOB that bought the service agreement, that'll be two people that are in for a rude awakening in short order.

Maybe with all of the profits from the products you sold, your store can afford to fix the leaking roof, the stained carpets and ruined floors, turn up the store lighting, and bring in real sales people, instead of phony propagandists.

You have no issues?? Congrats. That certainly isn't the case in my store. As a manager I easily spend AT LEAST half of my time dealing with angry customers who can't get service out to their house, or who get service techs who put a bandaid on an issue only to have the same thing break in a month or so. I still encourage everyone in our store to sell PAs because it's still my job to do so. But I DON'T feel good about it and am definitely looking for a different place of employment.

Most of the MA/PAs are BS, and its not just a Sears issue, most big retailers do this exact same thing too. I don't buy PAs in general, but I would never buy one from Sears, even without the risk (certainty) of it closing its doors and not honoring the PAs. The main reason why is because of the customer service I get from Sears, while even trying to buy something. If Sears screws up selling stuff that badly, how well do you think they will do "making it right?"

Before you tell me its all media driven and bad/fake reviews ... I'll tell you this, I've seen enough with my own eyes to know that its true as both an employee and as a customer.

Also if you try to push a MA or PA down my throat you would lose my sale... not that I'd be shopping at Sears for anything meaningful ever again.

We have had no issues with MA/PA at our store. they are a wonderful product that gives the customer peace of mind. That veteran I sold the mower to was on a fixed income and didn't want any surprises. The media is to blame for a lot of this "sears is going away crap".

Eddie has generously poured a lot of his money into SHC and if it goes bankrupt he will get back pennies on the dollar. Its in everyone's best interest if sears makes it and makes it big.

We cannot thrive or survive if all of you jokers are constantly pissing and moaning. DO YOUR JOBS PEOPLE!! Or get out.

We need employees to sell product and services. you better damn well not sell a 1800 dollar mower without a MA/PA, that would be foolish.

Some of you people don't even try and SHC would be better off without you.

I can't seem to see this to be legit since its like almost a week late. Also you got a lucky day doesn't change the fact that your gona bank. A lot of people in tools never saw their benefit rate they keep selling it, but didn't show up on their pay check once again Sears screws its workers once again!

Try to get the company that SHC uses to honor that MA or PA. Our manger spend hours each day dealing with customers who cannot get someone to fix their product or they are told to bring the item to the nearest Sears to have it fixed. The problem is the nearest Sears is now hours away because of the closings or the companies who used to fix the item no longer are doing business with Sears.

Don't believe me just check Sears own website and Facebook page and see how many complaints there are for delivery and MA/PA issues. Way to take advantage of a veteran for a few bucks. No one is forcing anyone to buy the agreement but why don't you be honest and tell the customer about what problems they will run into and then see if they still want it.

Unethical? Give me a brake! I'm so sick of the whining that goes on here, do your f---ing job. If you don't like it, you know where the door is. No one is forcing a person to buy a protection plan, if they are not smart enough to read up on what they are buying instead of taking the word of the sales person, then that's on them.

IMO it's unethical to be pushing the protection agreements. I understand that it's part of the job for certain departments so I'm not trying to insult anyone. These agreements are barely honored now and most likely won't be honored at all in the future. It's taking advantage of people to sell them. Meaning Sears not the associates.

I do like the smoking & joking line you use though. That's the backroom at my store. It gives me life to see those guys having some fun.

Memorial day was almost a week ago and now you want to post about sales and all other BS.... Do you really think people are really going to buy overpriced products from a company doom and gloom ?? If those were your sales then I have a magical unicorn.
