Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

All about the benefits and costs of benefits

It's also about the benefits.

I called a local benefit agency to see if I could build a group of 45 to 70 year olds for medical, dental, vision, st and lt disability, etc and this lady literally laughed at me like I was joking, I said no, I am not joking, I want to hire a senior talented group of laid off O talent and become the biggest, most successful O Partner on the planet who eventually buys O for pennies on the dollar within 3 years or less, anyway, yes, I can get a group plan outside the health gov exchange but rates are just too expensive - America's benefit system needs fixed as well - stifling American entrepreneurialism... nothing to do with O on this one - this also totally s---s, feeling squeezed and boxed in from all directions here

"They would rather hire robots that need no healthcare and don't have to pay income taxes"

don't have to pay income taxes (yet). Municipalities are seriously considering enacting taxes on robo labor. They still need to pay for their existence. Check out the news.

Single Payer is the ONLY solution that will work long term. Even Republicans are coming to grip with that. Once enough people lost their health insurance, they will realize how stupid it is to tie healthcare to employment.

Warren Buffet says the biggest drag on GDP growth is healthcare costs and how much it disincentives companies from hiring American workers. They would rather hire robots that need no healthcare and don't have to pay income taxes.

They layoffs I saw last week were not based on ethnicity or age, as many of the people retained were older Caucasian men and Asians. The layoff was primarily based on role and department, with on-premise software and hardware groups getting cut the most. It certainly was not based on performance as great people were let go. The Enterprise Cloud Architect group was relatively unscathed, although some ECAs were let go between January and May. Cost of benefits is not a reason to lay off older workers. Employers have the option of charging more for benefits to a worker who is older, as long as the employer contribution is the same as for younger workers, and participation in the benefit program is voluntary. https://benefitslink.com/boards/index.php?/topic/56534-can-employee-insurance-contribution-vary-based-upon-age-or-s-x/
