Thread regarding Sears layoffs

new marketing strategies at certain Sears stores starting on June 4,2017

How many associates are in the test stores for the new percentage off only marketing strategies starting on June 4th through June 24th in which each department will be a certain percentage off instead of individual sale prices?

For example hardware will be 20% off,as well as lawn and garden, 40% off patio, soft lines will also be different percentages in each department.

Unfortunately on line will still be the same,so all I can see is we will be price matching everything on line once again losing commissions on all the large items we sell.

Anyone else have any views on this that are also in the selected test stores?

Please comment if you are also affected by this sale.

After four days of the summer blowout sale at my Sears store, all I can say us what a joke it is,

Everything is cheaper on line with the exception of small tickets items in hardware and lawn and garden and sporting goods. Yesterday I had a member who can in with his phone with a treadmill on sale for $699 with free home delivery while in the store we are $839 plus $99 for delivery, how does this help us selling in the stores?

I guess we were so lucky to beone of the 30 stores testing this summer blowout sale with no major advertising help from corporate.

Considering the usually Sunday changing of the sale signs really s---ed yesterday morning... my store is definitely not one of the stores trying that out.

So if the prices were raised to be lowered, how long before state attorney generals file suit? That'll be good for business.

The kmart I use to work at is doing the inventory blowout. From what I've heard, it hasn't moved the needle any and when I go in there, it's never busy, even on the weekend.

Might be a good idea if only people would come into the stores. You could be giving stuff away for free but if nobody comes into the store how will they know? We don't have an ad in the local paper anymore so no one will know if we have a sale or not. Sales are down over 35% at our store Year to date because there is no reason for anyone to shop here.

I m at 1 of the kmarts that is doing the inventory blow out. For us it's over next week. I don't know how many stores it worked for, I heard 2 in Chicago but it has done nothing for ours. I believe we only had 2 days where we made a profit. Customers were noticing right away that we raised the original price on most items and then took the % off. Some of our more expensive items went up by as much as $60 so with the blow out price you are only saving $10-$20

THEY think all customers are idiots and don't see the increase. This is a failure at my store.

sounds like a desperate measure to move items regardless of the margin to raise cash that they desperately need- they run out of cash at hand sometime this month

Some Kmart had done this and got themselves out of the red.
