Thread regarding L3 Technologies layoffs

Waco

They announced this morning we will have to take are PTO for the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving week

So they can shut the plant down for the full week of each holiday week

In order to save money

This is getting interesting

Any other facilities having the same thing

You are whining about the minor inconvenience of using a few days PTO? What about all those workers who were laid off, fired or took the buyout? What do their families do now? You are lucky to still be employed there and if you don't stop complaining about the small stuff, you might be the next casualty to be walked outside the gate. If the performance of the last few years there haven't given you a clue, you might need to find another job! The Titanic WILL sink and all those who didn't pay attention will be left gasping for air and drowning.

We did the same thing in Crestview , except we could work if we wanted to, but they let anybody that wanted to take off, take off. They also let you take off without pay if you wanted to

Send the helicopter managers home in the QC group and you will save a lot of money. Only thing they have going is their the old washed out group, from Bell. May as well have DC or TB in charge, I hear most of floor guys have to ask to write up anything

I find it funny that people are in such a frenzy. They are asking you to take 3 days of leave unpaid or use PTO. They are paying us two days holiday pay for the 4th. If you are 3 days pay away from financial ruin or out of PTO, you need to look in the mirror that's where the real problem is. This company gives a very generous PTO package to it's employees. I challenge you to show me any place else on Waco that can match it.

...and no, I'm not management, I'm just a rivet monkey on the floor.

Is Waco going to offer the CSE layoff package of 1 week of pay for every year of service up to 26 weeks plus 1 year of medical?

How about the top leadership takes a week unpaid and leads by example in order to help prevent layoffs? They aren't trying to save us. They've been challenged by New York and they are trying to save their own asses by taking away from the lowest ranks. My theory: they want us to use PTO so that when they try to sell the site, they can show less "yet-to-be-paid" PTO on the books. That means less money the new owners will have to pay when they lay EVERYONE off. Leadership doesn't care about L3 Waco. They care about leadership. Don't be fooled.

We are in this pickle because of the inadequate and SAD leadership --going from all the directors to plant president!!!! I admire your gusto of one for all--but If you really believe that -I feel for you. No doubt, this ship is sinking fast...and the rats on the ship will ride it until the end. DH, DC, JC, and many others. Let's be realistic...We have been through storms out here before but the MAIN difference is we had experienced Leadership in place that knew how to turn it around. And If the leadership could not get it done--they were let go! They did not cut the little people or cut their salaries to boot! It's pitiful but until the current lack of leadership is replaced you better get ready for more layoffs! I guarantee it!!!!

You know what would be great? If we had at least 80% of the work force come in for free on the mandatory shut down. Not because we support leadership, but because you care about the person standing next to you and you care that he/she will have a job in the future. Leadership is doing this because they are trying to keep people from losing their jobs in a layoff, but all we can talk about is being forced to take PTO. Look at the bigger picture. The are few jobs here in Waco that pay better and have better benefits. There those that can move onto other jobs with ease, I know that. But the majority of the work force can't and they will be the ones suffering. So everyone can go ahead and comment negatively on my post, but think about what I said. We need to do this for us, we need to do this for each other. Like I said, do this to not have to have anothe layoff. Just my thoughts. And I am not on a mandatory work program, or part of Gibson's leadership team, but I will look into seeing what I can do to support our company. Because that is what it is, OUR COMPANY.

Actually, the options are: Use your PTO during those 2 weeks, or take unpaid leave. Unless, of course, you are working a critical program, which just so happens to be half of the population here... Thankfully, I fall into that category. I'd be ticked if I had to cancel my fall trips and use the PTO that I purchased this year for a designated company shut down instead.
