Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Sales Meat Grinder

Oracle is not, nor has ever been, known for being a warm & fuzzy work enviro. It's a well known meat grinder. At least in sales it is. Everyone knows this is what the oracle brand is about. You produce or you're out. Plain & simple. Most, if not all, of this board's posts must be from non-sales ee's and former ee's.

I partially agree with you that some of those laid off (in sales) were due to poor performance. However that is not the case for all those impacted. While I was not personally impacted, I personally know 13 people who were. Only 2 of those 13 missed their quota. One of those two, had exceeded his quota in FY15 this year's numbers look to be 40-50% higher than FY17's.

Good luck in FY18. You need it.

70% of Oracle's sales people made quota back in the day and Oracle blew past earnings estimates.

Now, less than 20% make plan and Oracle is struggling. No decent sales person wants to work for Oracle. Comp plans are way too complicated with handicaps, gates, accelerators you name it. The comp plans were designed to be overly complicated to screw as many sales people, sales managers, and sales consultants out of income. Instead, that money goes all the way to the top!
