Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Thank You! Thank You! for Laying Me Off...

I was really upset when I got laid off May, lost RSU's, great reviews, made no sense etc, etc, etc - you all know the story heard over and over BUT this old fart is looking at multiple offers coming in that looks to double my income and allow me to put this Oracle debacle behind me.

Of course this required mental repair just short of an exorcism of the PTSD symptoms of Oracle abuse but it's happening

For the good.

So again Thank You! Whoever conceived of Laying me off from your spreadsheets or other stupid analysis.

Good luck all and I am sorry if you are having mental gyrations - I almost went nuts but I made it over the wall so to speak and boy does it feel so good.

I got laid off last Sept and had two offers by Nov. I didn't realize how miserable I was. Thanks ORCL for putting a bullet $$$ into me 😎

Guys, if you are worried about a break in your resume, create a corporation to show on your resume until you get a job.

Yes they do offer severance. I got my package this week. The information reported on this board proved correct. Two weeks for the first year, one week for each FULL year after that. I was here 5 years, 9 months and got the equivalent of 6 weeks. Assuming I sign the paperwork...

I was also paid for my unused vacation and my last payday, which was the one day of June 1st. The great thing is that technically, I did work for Oracle in June (only for one day), so as long as I have another job by the end of July, I won't have a break in my resume timeline!

It's great to hear all the positivity. I'm less worried as a friend said I should be. Quick question for all in USA, do they offer severance?

I was also a high performer making less money than normal . Sometimes I wonder if it is due to doj lawsuit as I was the classic low paid minority worker. Yes am glad to be out, just wish I had spent last 6 months actively looking instead of just after layoff , I did try late last year did my CV just did not follow through much . Ok and this india Dev team , I could not even get any decent work out of them . good luck all

Being laid off last year by Oracle - perf ratings always between 4-5 during previous focals.

All together, it was good, but with a tremendous pressure.

After being laid off, I have found immediately another job, which is far more interesting due to the variety of all technical topics I am working on, all new faces I see.

Working now is like a pleasure with almost "no stress", although we work very hard. There is no concern about missing a quarter, and being laid off right after for EPS ratio or headcount reduction.

So, Yes, there is a real life after Oracle, which can be also very good

I got laid off early this year and found a new job with 20% more pay but most important, I work on more interesting projects. Never look back.

If Oracle give early retirement option, I know bunch of people will take that.
