Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

System integrator shops like Wipro, Accenture, Deloitte, Infosys dependent on oracle are in major pain

Been working at an IT system integrator company for 15 years doing Siebel and other Oracle products. We don't have any new Oracle business coming in anymore. Clients are spending all their new money on non-Oracle Cloud and keeping existing Oracle apps only on lights on mode till they move out of Oracle. When we show them Oracle Cloud Crap, we think ourselves lucky if we just get an audience with the client. Oracle Cloud is horrid.

Just moving the on premise fusion to the internet isn't cloud. See what aws, azure have done. It needs a complete rehaul and Oracle is jammed up in its internal silo fusion politics. Oracle is late, arrogant, unable to see the reality, and dying. System integrator shops like Wipro, Accenture, Deloitte, Infosys dependent on oracle are in major pain and their Oracle employees are getting laid off. Oracle is a fast sinking ship. Find another while you are still afloat.

For anyone that says On-Prem is still going strong, I would ask you to take a deeper look into the numbers. Look at new license revenue vs existing support revenue. They tell a very different story.

If you are referring to Exadata sales, then yes, existing customers are still buying more of it. For good reason; it can be a game-changer for customers. Notice I did not say engineered systems, only Exadata. Most of the other solutions benefit from the performance of Exadata and the fast infiniband infrastructure. But how many NEW customers are buying O's HW?

Apps SW sales are hurting for one real problem and one perception problem. The real problem is that Apps reps are not paid to sell on Prem Apps, only SaaS. Therefore, the majority of sales are happening in SaaS, not on Prem. The perception issue is that customers believe O is so focused on the Cloud that they aren't updating / enhancing their on Prem versions. This isn't true. Most of O's on Prem Apps have roadmaps that extend for another decade, with new enhancements and features. But since none of the reps are talking about this and ONLY talking about Cloud / SaaS, customers don't want to sink more money today into Apps platforms that they fear may lock them in to O's SaaS solutions tomorrow.

This guy knows what he's talking about. I work in cloud and it's a disaster. Many loyal people are drinking some major kool-aid. Especially this godforsaken huge blubbering layer of management fat. They could be some of the worst in history. Worse yet is most of the small line and gbu managers have absolutely no tech skills. Some don't even know what different pieces of hardware do.

On premises is still going strong, it's not as strong as before, but in totality the numbers are very good

That is as good a sign os any of the decline of oracle - on-prem is dead and cloud is still born
