Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle's major constraint

As everybody who's ever worked at oracle knows, oracle's biggest obstacle and largest constraint is LE - his mindset and ego, and therefore the people he hires. His belief that cloud was just toy delayed cloud development, his view that sales people are a tax and should not be necessary, his complete lack of understanding why quality of management matters, etc, etc, etc. he should have stepped away making time ago, except that he lack the judgment required to select and keep a good management team. This had inflicted lots of unnecessary suffering on oracle employees and significant reduced his own wealth - just look at how much richer Gates, Besos, and the Google guys are. The big difference: quality of thinking and judgment. LE keeps shooting him self in the foot.

That was a much younger and much more engaged LE, he should have put more effort into succession, which still looms as his biggest failure

When LE was the only CEO at Oracle, employees were happy and things were great. When SC took over (and later MH), hell broke lose.

It eats at him that those other guys are much more successful and much, much richer. Eat your heart out LE

Oh, shut up about the friggin testing.

You'll give the clowns at HR ideas.

I already waste enough of my time tending to useless bureaucratic BS I don't need more corporate mandates.

Nepotism is everywhere. If you got the brains go somewhere where you are valued. Otherwise, you are playing the survival game as well, so stop your whining.

I see nepotism at Oracle. Too many incompetent employees playing the survival game by manipulating metrics. Oracle should have a competency test for all employees.

I wouldn't worry about Larry.

He's doing quite alright with his billions and islands.
