Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Full of bad managers

This place is full of bad managers that have been around forever. I've never worked for so many bad leaders in my life. This company needs to do a major housecleaning.

Stay away from Sabre UX. Management is a complete joke. Leaving as soon as I update my portfolio.

I'm afraid they are going to reduce those who bring value and keep poor senior leadership who makes so bad decission, not listening, not understanding real issues and blindly applying solutions they know from the other companies/times. I hope to be layoff...

All Legacy Sabre SVPs in P&T left or were forced to leave after the new CPTO joined.

And all the new ones are few notches below the ones who left. Same with the VPs. All focused only on the short term which is leading to ling term critical issues such as Outages and loss of morale

Don't forget that new cuts are coming since we are not on track to hit the 2017 targets

Hiring of friends culture started a few years ago in the P&T department with the new CPTO at that time. Each new hire in turn got his/her friends and this resulted in the loss of Sabre talent as internal folks got frustrated and the best moved on.

On top of the hiring of friends, the frequent reorgs which totally didn't make any sense and the fascination for fancy consultants and their ideas drove the P&T department to the sad state it is in today

Absolutely agree, and people who are clueless are promoted from manager to director to senior director just because a SVP "just loves them" The good ones are stuck.

Yes, this is the only company I have seen lot of unskilled managers and leaders. This is the company for useless people to settle and many have. Employees of 10+ years have no knowledge on technology as well Sabre products and Airline domain. All they do is a-- liking. Good resources are fired saying attitude problem and high school drop-outs are hired as they are friends & relatives. These don't know the basics of computer systems, i doubt how they got degree, definitely a fake degree. And Sabre is rich and dumb kid. It does't have brains to know what is needed for its products to work and sell. This is how Sabre product build since 1960 is ruined.

agree! specially if you are a PM and as the resources are not assigned to you if they feel you will not allow them to shine to their bosses you are done. you know what? it was a blessing to be laid off. I was caught by surprise as no feedback was given but I can tell you now I feel much better with a new job. at Sabre you are set to fail. sad but true.

Nothing will change as long as managers similar to Shopping Solutions SVP will stay on their positions.

(apologize guys for my mistake in previous post :-P)

Agree. They're busy s---ing up instead of doing their job and doing what's right. Attempting to work with them, and get something done on time and correctly is harrowing UNLESS they have the ability to impress someone above my pay grade. Upper management thrives on having their butts kissed - it makes them feel important.

Nothing - absolutely NOTHING (get it? NOTHING) will change. Move on.

I've been working for lots of different companies in my life and this one is the only one so full of managers not doing their job right. They don't value effort, knowledge, skills and experience but just the hierarchy.

These layoffs do not seem to improve this state - unfortunately the bad ones are still Ok, but lots of good employees left or simply got laid off.

Agree 100% It is interesting to witness the difference in the approaches that management takes when working with individuals they inherited after joining a team and those that they assisted in bringing in. The preferential treatment their 'friends' receive is mind blowing.

Sabre needs to look at managers (and individuals) that have been with the company for 10+ years and seriously take a look at whether or not their exuberant salaries justify the value they are really bringing to the company. Of course that would require Sabre HR to get involved and everyone knows they are as useless as t*ts on a bull.

Sad state of affairs at this company

I meant "lack of trust in direct reports"

Totally agree. Level of micromanagement and trust in direct reports is amazing. "Manager is always right" approach is horrible and kills all initiatives.

Where are you going Sabre?
