Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

NIKE 2017 Layoffs: JUNE

Nike waited till the fiscal year 2018 to appease wall street and have budget for severance.

A massive layoff wave is coming... rumored to be mid June. They have slowly been letting go of anyone they can for trivial reasons that had become standard practice and protocol in various jobs and areas of the company.

Corporate investigations reportedly took pictures and samples. Although I don't know what the hell for. Keep up the good work.

All the layoffs in my partners IT departments were employees with 15-30 years employment with Nike. b---s--- upper management decided to clean sweep tenured employees and keep N1Bs and anyone under 30..... beware of big corporations. Lifetime jobs are permanently gone. My partner gave her life (28 yrs) to this company and this is how they treat her? WTF is wrong with people?

Nike - where careers go to die.

What is interesting, the decision makers (C-Suite) who got Nike in this bad position (actually this occurred before) still maintain their positions. The problem is on the top floor not with the people they are laying off. The continue to make bad business decisions yet terminate the non-decision makers. Overall, Nike is a great company managed by a bunch of sycophants.

Left there not too long ago. Definitely too many people, but I imagine the layoffs will mostly come from the wrong places IMO.

Will this mean more H1Bs will be "used" by Nike?

Where is that snarky recruiter now? (NKE announced 1,400 FTE out of 17,000 laid off this morning. Sara, PM, and David Sears, Director of buisness analysts, let go today.)

I guess this thread caught things three days before any news hit the street - kudos, whoever reported this first...

I've posted my two cents on IT layoffs here https://www.thelayoff.com/t/NNlWIhj or you can see it here @NNlWIhj

Preparation for this phase had already decreased Nike Technology including Cyber Security by 30% already over the past 9 - 12 months. Supply Chain related rolls including rolls supporting supply chain are on the chopping block with this latest round. Nike is not a Technology company and this is clear with 2009 massive layoffs and outsourcing and again with this newest round of restructuring.

Don't let the "2%" fool you... that takes into account all of the seasonal/part time workers globally as well as every retail associate... if you isolated this to campus/regional offices where most of the jobs are that are being cut and factor in the people they have let go in preparation the past few months, you might be able to add a zero to that number... Much bigger than they want wall street to think is it when they read the headline "Nike Cutting 2%"...

Eerie day here on campus... Now I realized why they had the kegs out at 11AM yesterday :-(.

Inside line is that IT will be the hardest hit with CIS losing a large amount of their work force. Executive staff looking at "off shoring" a majority of IT workload. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/nike-to-cut-2-of-its-workforce-as-part-of-corporate-restructuring-2017-06-15

I wish they would just get this sh-- over with. I've been hearing about this layoff for the past month. Word travels fast, and this has grown to an extremely ridiculous size.

Nike makes Uber look like they have treat women like royalty. With any luck they will get most of the non producing kool-aid drinkers out the door.

I have heard the rumors for a while now. But I also hear that September is the date.

In my case, if it's going to happen... the sooner the better.
